Hey,

I think ive managed to come up with a half decent domain name using a mix of a word that is related to the website i want to build and random letters, the problem is when i search for the name in google it comes up with a "did you mean?" notice.

Should this put me off, should i be looking at finding another domain name?

depends on the domain. i had a three-word domain that when i initially typed into the g displayed a "did you mean." but now that i've reg'd and developed it, it shows up first without any "did you mean" anymore. ;)

Yeah supposedly it chooses the one with the most results, unfortunatly in my case the correct spelling has millions upon millions of results, not something achieveable in any short amount of time.

well, it still depends on how competitive the words are. even not so competitive keywords will have millions upon millions of results since google is an crawling and indexing monster. :p

are you trying to rank for a misspelling of a phrase or the correct spelling? for misspelling it would be even easier to rank highly.

The "Did you mean" will slowly go away, after googles algorithm learns that people are looking for that actual term instead of the "Did you mean" term.

Good to hear because i bought the domain anyway :D

google knows better, i prefer the one suggested in the "did you mean?" if you want to resell quick btw

development can be better for this domain if you go this way.

When your site is developed and links, traffic and idexed pages are established. The did you mean will disappear. A couple of my sites still had this in google and it disappeared in no time..

Good Luck
