Just got an email from google that google analytics are updated and improved. I can't remember why I stopped using them when they came out initially, I think it was because Google disabled new sites from being added. I added a couple of my sites to give them another shot. We'll see how it goes.

The new Google Analytics? Simply HORRIBLE!

Look like made for little kids with all those ridiculous colours (pink, blue, green, yellow, orange...). May have more features but it seems that Google engineers forgot that not most people need so many things hidden behind so many clicks.

The "Old" one looks much more professional, is much faster fast and useful. If there was a way to keep that old one, I would.

The new version's going to take some getting used to. At least they left the old version on as an option (for now at least).

I was working with a friend and we did some tests on a heavy traffic site using server side stats and google analytics. I had said that anything that uses javascript and an external server to track logs can't possibly be that accurate. I was right. :P

Google analytics would report about 10 to 15% off was the server logs would say for unique visitors. This was a site with about 1500 uniques a day. We then ran a similar test on a site with about 200 uniques a day and on a site with about 5,000 uniques a day. Each time it was oddly enough about the same (despite the amount of traffic each site had), Google would mis-report about 10 to 15% of the traffic each day.

Overall it's decent. Nice way to keep track of what keywords your site gets visitors from but really it's not accurate enough for anyone who is REALLY into stats like me. :P

Thanks for the states, Airadine. Was this done with the "new" system, or the old?
