Well I currently run a webhosting company of around 70 paying clients, but I used to make around $10 a day running a web proxy, but it all somehow stopped. I was wondering what better ways I can do to make money online, I was thinking of getting money through PPC or Adsense publishing, I heard a friend of mine made around $100 a day. That sounds a lot better than webhosting. What type of site should I make that would attract traffic and revenue?

I have heard that blogs make a lot of money, but not to start with, I doubt my blog will ever hit the big dough.

Well what are your uniques a day? Are they all spiders(check your awstats/google analytics - be sure to run both)?

If not, what affiliate or PPC program are you running on your web hosting site/forum? Do you add fresh content or articles to your forum if you have one? Do you have a blog in addition to your hosting/forum site? All 3 things can bring in or generate money money from PPC or affiliate programs, such as Commissin Junction, Adsense, Clicksor et cetera? These are all things you need to consider.

Utilize all 3 things to your benefit, Hosting Main Page, forums and blog. Remeber to exchange links, Buy links off of high trafficking sites et cetera. Optimize your meta/keywords/et cetera to bring in traffic so your rate for ppc can be greater.

I wouldn't recommend you to use adsense on your webhosting website because you might lose customers because of that.

You can start other websites though, you can use different methods to attract visitors (like SEO, CPC traffic, social bookmarking sites, contests, give prizes) etc.

Curious of why you would think people would lose interest if he has adsense on his web hosting company? Why would people not stay? Curious to know why you would think this as opposed to affiliates et certera. Why not all of them at once.

The answer is simple.. since adsense shows relevant ads to your content, therefore most of the ads will be about other web hosting companies which might offer better packages and there is high possibility to lose a customer..

Another example: If Godaddy puts banner ads about NameCheap on their website.. or if NamePros advertises another domain related forum .... it won't make sense..

Ok fair enough. I was just not thinking the next step on that one. Than I would suggest to go use Commission Junction. One could always put banners of domain registars up. I know they have dotster, godaddy, yahoo and a few others. You can also get them in text link form as well.

But of course there is a slew of other companies one can apply for as well besides domain registars.

Make a lot of posts on NamePros.com... Cash in the NP$, add your adsense, and sell your signature space!

I'm making $20+ a month just from posting on my favorite forum. :tu:

Also, visitors may find the web hosting site unprofessional if there were ppc ads on them, because if they know what ad publishing is about, they would know the host is desperate for petty change.

Mostly the adsense doesnt work for the Hosting companies because of a simple logic......the person who checks about Hosting will be a WEBMASTER and he knows what are adds so obviously he wont click on the adds

Not necessarily... I'm a "webmaster" yet I still click on Adsense ads when something catches my eye.

I think the biggest reasons not to post ads are that usually your competition will be advertising on that ad-block, not to mention that it just looks plain unprofessional.
