Yesterday Xbox released Xbox Diamond for its Live subscribers... www.xboxlivediamond.com -- inturn I registered www.xboxdiamond.com -- I simply put up an iframe of the offical site and the yahoo ads.. All of a sudden I started recieving emails like CRAZY... I began reading the emails-- and it was people asking for support about people registering their usernames or messesups doing the signup... I then discovered on the offical site-- that they listed my domain as the support email

If you believe that someone else has registered with your GamerTag, please send an email to [email protected].

See it with your own eyes-- type in the username Highride or any other reg'd username on www.xboxlivediamond.com

What do you reccommend I do? Am I going to get a cent from this domain? What should I do with it-- develop a site/community based around the xbox diamond card, or keep the Iframe with the ads?

Thanks,
Adam

For christs sake... get those iframes OFF!! You might as well hang a sign around your neck that says "hey bill g, im profiting off your trademarks, sue me now!"

The best thing you could do is to create a site about an xbox game 'youre creating' called "diamond," or perhaps xbox system covers with diamonds in them. SOMETHING to try and make it obvious that your intent was NOT to profit off microsofts mistake. Right now, youre doing the exact opposite. The worst part is that this opens you to punitive damages in a lawsuit too, since microsoft could argue that they lost money/customers because of your fake website.

For your own welfare, delete the page (or just use a server redirect to microsofts own page). Then send an email to microsoft (send it to more than one email - find as many relevant msn addresses as you can, you want to make sure someone important reads it) that you "realized their mistake and registered the domain name for them." Tell them you'll gladly transfer it to them if theyd like.

Make sure you save copies of all the emails you send (and their dates). Hopefully all of this will help cover your ass from some major liability.

I think you should park it, and definitely remove the Iframes, and any reference to "logging in" (phishing!). There's no reason you can't develop this as an XBOX interest site, that doesn't infringe on their trademarks. IFraming to their site does though, you've got to get rid of the login crap. Good luck.
