ok here is what i am thinking of doing.

i recently registered byoc.info which is going to be a site based on learning to build your own computer(byoc). then i got thinking about registering more .info addresses based on learning stuff about computers and running them all under a .com address. so is this a good idea? making a few sites and running them all under one big site. the big site (the .com) would be forums running vBadvanced probably with the home page containing latest releases from various companies and news about new technologies soon to hit the market. the goal of this site would be to give people a further understanding of computers(because i cannot count how many times i have heard people say, "i wish i knew more about computers")

yay or nay?

edit** just after i posted this, i thought about something else. i could use another domain of mine (whatsite.info) to act as a directory to put all sites(not just mine) that have good sources of information about computers. well thats it for now

I think it is a great idea, but try to have separate IP addresses for each if you can afford it - that way, each link will count as a separate one when it comes to counting the number of links you have pointed to any given domain.

Its a good idea, I rather use .com then .info info is very cheap resale value. But thats just me. Alot of people will agree with me about a .com its just that if it fails you can sell the domain and earn some money. Your idea is solid all you have to do now is build the site and get it up and running :)

yes i do agree with you on the .com part but the main site will be .com

my reasoning for the .info addresses is that i can get better keywords and get them cheap. and since they will be purely information the .info extension should be fine. mainly im going .info for a lot of them because the .coms are taken :(

Minor point: I'm not sure about the idea of mixing extensions. Having the main site as a .com might confuse visitors to the .info, who could end up typing byoc.com into their browsers.
