Hi there! I'm a brand new member of namePros, and also new to domaining. I've been hooked up and eager to learn for a few days now, and I've got my two first domains, if my cryptocurrency-based website domain is not counted in here. So yeah, coming into the community from Finland, and very eager to hear if there are other Finns in the community. I'm looking to find someone relatively new or perhaps experienced Finnish person, whom I could chat with about Finnish domaining market and trends. Of course I'm interested in worldwide markets aswell! Great community, wish you all luck in your domaining business!
Welcome, @Matrix166 - it's nice to have you. Spend a lot of time reading through the threads at first, and be slow in buying. That will save you a lot of money down the road. Yes, I hope forest raking doesn't take up too much of your domaining time.
Hey there @Matrix166 p.s the "raking" remark was made from USA president Trump https://globalnews.ca/news/4676548/finland-trump-raking-leaves-forest-fires/
Hello @Matrix166 .. and welcome to NamePros! With the population of Finland being only 5 million combined with the fact that you have a unique language with no competition withing .com, I'm thinking it would be quite difficult to be very successful exclusively within the Finnish market? How widely in use is .fi compared to .com there? Anyhow .. best of luck to you!
Great question and initiation of discussion! Indeed, it is my primary concern. Domaining is quite unknown business here in Finland. Whenever a non-tech company is set up, most of the time they get the first offer at hosting company that provides them all they need (website building, 1 or 2 domain, hosting) and then they just go passive from there. I might get lucky with right domains and patient outbounding, but I'm not counting on that. .fi is really popular and widely used in Finland, I don't know the exact numbers compared to .com, but they are the big two. This might be just me, but I still see a lot of .net-domains in use for Finnish websites. Thanks for the good luck, likewise to you!
