domain Golf.ae........How big is golf in Dubai/Abu Dhabi?? Any comments??

Any comments on this name??

I presume there are golf courses over there, but can someone tell me just how big the sport is? I know new courses are being built on a lot of those big megaprojects but it would be nice to get some opinions from someone in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Ajman etc


Also just got Clubs.ae and Silver.ae

Nice name. Honestly, I would not park or make a minisite with that domain. Your ppc links are hardly relevant. .AE registry is not messing around with what they call 'cybersquatters'. As they define a cybersquatter as anyone registering .ae domain names to resell them on the black market. If they think you have registered the domain for this reason they will simply take the domain away, no questions asked. nicedomains, yep, Ive read that article a few times, I think developing a small site is fine, its when you have the name parked and "For sale" signs on it, thats when they may get annoyed. I have removed the "this domain is for sale" so the name is being used as such so it wasnt regged just to sell on

I am no developer, but would it be worth me getting the domain developed properly by someone

I think the name is potentially worth a lot but it is somewhat risky. If the powers that be in the Emirates want something, they'll get it. That is, if somebody really wants that name, they'll surely be able to get the registry to get it for them, even if that means taking it from you without compensation.

That said, it could be worth a lot a few years from now. In the meantime, if you get a solid offer, I'd probably take it. Good luck!

Thanks abc3200, I understand they can take it from you if it looks like you registered it solely for resale, if you plan on developing the names, there is no problem, I dont have it parked or have "For Sale" signs on it. When you say "if someone wants the name, they can take it from you" that will have to be someone with some power at aeda and not just any developer/investor that wants the name. I wont be selling the name unless I get a very good offer. I have discussed this with people in the industry over there and I have been told since the rule change, I am entitled to the names as much as someone who lives in Dubai

I guess there is always a risk, but for $40, its a risk worth taking I guess...

That's good. As long as you've talked to somebody, that's good. But I'd still be cautious. The name is good and if a sheikh or somebody wants it, they'll get it. Of course, they have the money to pay for it, but if they don't want to they probably won't. Good luck. I'm sure you'll get offers on the name.
