GoDaddy woes

I started using them a while back (backorder service).

I find it funny that they got the first 3 Domains one right after another. They all had bids at NW, one was at $151. At that point seeing the results 3 for 3 I kinda thought GoDaddy was great.

I went ahead and bought more obviously thinking I would continue to catch Domains, boy was I wrong, they missed the next 9 attemps in a row :(

They weren't amazing names niether, simular to the first 3 which GoDaddy did get for me.

I started thinking to myself that they probubly seen I was a new client and wanted to do their best to catch them for me to get me hooked. I can't say for sure that it's the reason and chances are I just got lucky but it still gets me to wondering hmm....

I did feel a bit better when even NW missed the names I was after, I guess I cant poop on GD if NW wasnt even able to catch them.

I'm assuming that GDaddy can easily snag those names which were originally registered through their system, but may have a harder time trying to grab names from another registrar... just my thinking on the whole name snap service in general.

Goodluck!

I decided to poop on GD after all, it just seems so strange as to why they caught my first 3 but nothing afterwards.

I wasn't too hard on them and didn't accuss them of anything shady but I kinda hinted at it :)

We shall see what/how they reply back.

Thanks,

Mike

Tippy, same happened to me.

I ordered my first GD BO, and they snapped it! (good name)
I was so excited that i ordered 6 more slots there.

But unfortunately, until today, they failed to snap any domain in my slots for about 50 times in a row!

I am so disappointed that i hate GD now, and i am moving all my domain away from them.

It smells like big time con.

im still using godaddy. ive beat snaps/namewinner/etc three times. Beat namewinner once or twice as well. I still have faith. They are catching names if you look closely... just make sure it is your names next time :P
i am still angry they didnt get me seen.com... lol.
but i like godaddy.

I just lost a name on backorder with GD to Rebel.com. I have a domain registered with them but this was my first backorder. Rebel don't even have their web site up yet!!! But their logo looks like Namescout.

I wish I had joined this site before I backordered with GD to see their past performance. I would have shopped elsewhere.

Rebel.com is Pool's drop catcher. BTW, welcome to the NP, gbryant :D

Everybody keeps trashing GoDaddy how's a guy to sell anything regged there to fellow NP'ers. Their prices are competitive. Never had a problem with them myself. I don't bother with drops or backorders though.

GoDaddy does ok for the price, but they really can't compete with Pool, NameWinner, and Snap. They're great for going after names that the others aren't chasing!

I'm 3 for 18 with them and happy with the ones I've got.

I've had 0 problems with GD.

I'd be interested to see the catch stats of other drop services.

I would really love it if everyone left GoDaddy to lil old me :)

True they do not catch everything - but they do beet the big guys often. I have never let a GoDaddy slot go free if I had a Snap or Enom club drop on a domain.

I have no problem with GD for registering domain names. My only bad experience was with the backorder. I called to get an explanation of how the backorder process works and the support said they didn't know and the development team would not be willing to tell me the process (its a secret). They told me to email the president (so I emailed Bob and asked what the process is (no specifics just generic) and what the percentage chances of getting backorders with GD is). I'll let you know if he responds.

On my lost backorder, WHOIS still just shows it as registrar lock with Rebel.com and no other owner info. Does this mean anything (i.e. they captured it with the intent to resell?)

I'm surprised they had you email Bobby boy for such a simple question. Even more suprised Customer Support couldn't just help you!

I think a domain registar should be measured by my more than one standard.

In my opinion..GoDaddy is one of the best registar around. I not for sure... I know of any registar that has an excellent domain managment support as Godaddy and there prices are more than reasonable!

But I must say... I have never utilize there backorder service.
