GoDaddy spamming?

Well...today I noticed a big conversation about Godaddy's crappy new interface. Gone from bad to worse basically. However the past few days I have noticed that I am getting those "confirmation" emails once again. They are a pure annoyonce. But who can take a chance with godaddy as they are known to rob domain holders.

Well I am starting to put 2+2 together and realize their real intentions...to get people to login to their new interface and maybe buy something.

The old emails used to have a link that would take you directly to a confirmation page. No more. You have to manually login. Then manually enter the code. And btw their confirmation link is adequately hidden in the footer.

I call BS.

I am sick and tired of Godaddy. If less people used them then maybe when I bought domains I wouldn't have to deal with it. I gotta spend the money and move the rest of my domains outta there. I did this a year ago but purchasing domains that are in Godaddy is just part of the business.

Totally sucks.

Anyone else notice an increase in these confirmation emails and how this coincides with their new interface?

I have now gotten 6 emails the past 3 days. Why can't they just send ONE email to confirm all my domains in my account? They all have the exact same information. Arseholes...wasting my time again.

They certainly are annoying - especially so since every domain I have there is under the exact same registrant details. They like to split the emails into notices containing 3-5 domains each time - yeah that isn't obvious! Send them all in one email already!

And the confirmation link is near the top left for me framed in a yellow image.

That's where mine was too. top left.

But I received 2 separate emails - and when I pasted
the link provided, they were both for exactly the same
domains, on 2 pages - all the info was the same for all of them!

2 pages - 2 emails containing the same domains?
What was/is the point?

This makes email number 4 in the last week :(

Either they are entirely incompetent in this area, or the multiple emails are intentional. Sometimes I feel like they're punishing me for publicly criticizing them. :red:

Yeah I can't help but think this is timed with their new site. Imagine all the noobs with one domain that have to deal with this. I am sure a lot of sales happen for Godaddy from this. It's no different than any spam where a certain percentage gives them sales. IMHO the ICANN rules are giving Godaddy a reason to spam and the practice should be stopped.

Also my information has been the same for years. Why do I need to confirm it every year? Seems silly this whole process.

And I don't see any yellow bar on the top of my screen.

I use GoDaddy but I don't really know what anyone is talking about; would someone care to elaborate for the sake of a noob like me?

Godaddy sends out an Icann verification email, telling
you to check your domain registration info and verify
it with a key-code they provide.
It "reminds" us to check that our info is up to date - as it's
our responsibility to be sure it's correct.

It's a good service but not when they send 3 or 4 for the same thing-
then it gets annoying :)

:hi: labrocca,

NOT having a link in the email is a good thing.

It's no longer a good idea to click links in emails even if it looks
like it came from a trusted source.

Thats a good call tricolorro, I was about to ad that link myself recieved a dodgy email from godaddy last week while I was away for a few days it looks like this

It's that time of year again. ICANN (the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers) annually requires that all accredited registrars (like Go Daddy) ask their domain administrators/registrants to review domain name contact data, and make any changes necessary to ensure accuracy. According to our records you are the ADMINISTRATIVE CONTACT for one or more domains registered at GoDaddy.com, Inc. as of September 3rd, 2008. To review/update your contact data, simply: + Go to www.godaddy.com/?isc=xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx + Click on the "ICANN Domain Confirmation" icon at the top of the page + You will be taken to a landing page and asked to enter your Domain Information Key: xxxxxxxxx-xxxxxxx-xxxxxxx-xxxxxxx-xxxxxxxxx + Enter your key and click "Go." Next, simply review the contact information for each domain name. To make a correction, log in to "My Account" with your customer number or log in name and password. Click "Domains," select the domain to update, then click "Contact." If you find that your domain contact data is accurate, there's no need to take action. If, however, your domain contact information is inaccurate, you must correct it. (Under ICANN rules and the terms of your registration agreement, providing false contact information can be grounds for domain name cancellation.) To review the ICANN policy, visit: http://www.icann.org/whois/wdrp-registrant-faq.htm Should you have any questions, please email us at [email protected] or call our customer support line at (480) 505-8877. Thanks for your attention and thank you for being a GoDaddy.com, Inc. customer. Sincerely, GoDaddy.com, Inc. Domain Support If you are the domain administrator of more than one GoDaddy.com domain account, you may receive this notice multiple times. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Copyright (c) 2008 GoDaddy.com, Inc. Not sure if this is a blatant phishing attempt which it appears to be to my slightly paranoid self but I had a couple GD domains last year and did not recieve this...

Is what everyone else recieved.

Yes, that's what mine looked like, but the links

As pointed out by Patrick, please everybody be aware their are Scam Emails going around as well that "look like" the Godaddy emails. Use caution and if you think you clicked a link and logged in that was NOT from Godaddy, change your PW ASAP.

I have never clicked any of the links as I presuled they were spam. Having not had any from any other registrar rang bells. I agree though, changing your password is a good precaution if you did click any links.
