Domain hoster Go Daddy has shut down a Web site that lets people criticize individual police officers, saying it was using too much bandwidth. But the site owner says he is being censored after police complained.

If the siteowner was clearly going over the bandwidth alloted to him,
based on the plan he purchased...simple!
Get a bigger bandwidth plan, then see if GoDaddy puts it back online.
What a brilliant site.

LOL
I hope he does get a new plan, then tries to get it up again!
Then we can actually see if it is censorship or just the wrong host plan!

Whats funny is how can 3 terabytes of bandwidth be used up by only 480,000 pages views? Must have had some ridiculously huge files on there :)

....but I have seen some hosting companies put a cap so that when the bandwidth is fully utilized, the next visitor sees an error page. Did they have to close it!!! Does this mean I wasted money paying GoDaddy to develop a site??

Way to get free publicity. Brilliant!

The site owner can easily choose a server/host outside the US where he can go about his business.

Yup. Any publicity is good publicity.

IMHO, though, that site's got the words "high risk" written all over it.

"High risk" for whom or what?

Oh, cops complaining...people complaining about cops....the works. Search all
around the web and you'll find various discussions on it. :)

There's another article somewhere where Rackspace (I think) gave up on the
site due to potential risks. Mileage varies, depending on a variety of things.
