Hi,

Has anyone received emails from Godaddy in regards to domains that they do not own? A sample email reads:

Subject:
Please verify your email address for 9529.com
:Dear GoDaddy Customer,

ICANN has implemented a new Transfer Policy which affects all ICANN-accredited registrars. The Transfer Policy takes effect 1 December 2016.This email is in response to ICANN's requirement that registrars ask their customers to confirm that their contact information in WHOIS is accurate. You can read more about this requirement on ICANN's site at http://www.icann.org/whois/wdrp-registrant-faq.htm.?

You have registered one or more domains from Godaddy Inc. and verification of the Registrant email address is required for these domain name(s) to remain active. Please click the link below to verify the email address. If you don't verify your email address, we’re required to temporarily put your website on hold until verification is complete.*
Please cut-and-paste the following URL into an open web browser to complete the verification process:

http://www.godaddy-verification.com...ificationCode=473E-RTFU-QSZl-Z2QL-EFEE38A5869

Please remember that under the terms of the registration agreement, providing false WHOIS information can be grounds for cancellation of your domain name registration.
Thanks for your attention to this matter, Please do not reply to this email. Emails sent to this address will not be answered.
Thanks for being a GoDaddy customer.

Well, Godaddy's main site is ssl-secured.
This is not Godaddy's main site godaddy.com, it is not a https and when you google godaddy-verification.com you do not find a single indexation of this url that shows it belongs to Godaddy.
I hope you didnt click on the link. I wouldnt......

You can always forward the emails as an attachment to [email protected]. They will take a look into it or you can call support and get the email in to them to verify it.

Yes this is spam. The domain name is registered at PublicDomainRegistry.com and not at GoDaddy. They designed a very nice (confusing) phishing page. The domain is registered to someone by the name of [afesf] and he lives ar [sdfdsf fdsfd] Street in the city of [fddsfds] in China. So I'm not sure, maybe GoDaddy changed names and moved to fddsfds, China, otherwise its a phishing scam.

Absolutely definitely a phishing scam, designed to collect GoDaddy login details so that they can login to GoDaddy and steal the victim's domains by transferring them out (as Joe says, to someone in China).

Big clue at the bottom of the login page - "Copyright Β© 1999 - 2014 GoDaddy Operating Company, LLC. All Rights Reserved". Not very professional - they haven't updated their thieving page since 2014

Thanks for providing the "abuse" link..Been looking for a link to report "fake emails" for awhile now!

Hard to find on site and (if I remember) correctly, no mention of it on official emails..
