I just thought I would let NP members know that currently it seems that GoDaddy resellers are the cheapest places to hand-reg .mobi domains. This depends on whether or not the owner has enabled the $7.99 mobi promotion (such as at RegisterLake.com). Even if you do not want to keep it at this registrar, it is possible to transfer it out after 60 days to a different one like GoDaddy.com to effectvely get a cheap 2 year registration.

Similarly, the following codes should work:

50CN10 - 10% discount off any order $50 or more
100CN15 - 15% discount off any order $100 or more

Enjoy!

Unfortunately this is only for new registrations. To be honest, it is unlikely that prices will get lower for .mobi registrations so I have registered quite a few for 2 years.

Yes, but this was my point. You register for $7.99 and then either keep it there or transfer it to GoDaddy for $8.99, thus saving a lot of money if you are registering a lot of .mobis.

Is there consensus on whether there is any point in taking names out of GoDaddy resellers and putting them into GoDaddy's main system?

I'm pretty sure that resellers' customers get the same customer service - directly form GoDaddy, and also that GoDaddy moves all customers automatically to a different reseller if the original one is not able to perform their part of the Terms.

Does someone here know if there is total interoperability between the reseller's system and GoDaddy's though - how are account changes handled (e.g. can you move a domain from a reseller to GoDaddy if let's say you sell it to another GoDaddy customer after the initial 60 days are over)?

Support, customer service, free extras, etc. are all exactly the same. For some bizarre reason, however, they are seen as completely different sites. As a result, you can push domains from one account to another within your reseller, however, you cannot push from a reseller to GoDaddy - it needs to be transferred. For me, this is the only negative thing about GD resellers; otherwise they are great.

Great, thank you for the lightning fast and enlightening response!

My guessing was that by using that code, that is the lowest you can get .mobis for at GoDaddy, whereas at RegisterLake.com, you can get $7.99 & save further through the use of. So if you are registering one .mobi then obviously GoDaddy is better, but for more I would recommend a GoDaddy reseller.

50CN10 - 10% discount off any order $50 or more
100CN15 - 15% discount off any order $100 or more
