What's with this new stuff?

Godaddy now requires user name as well as contact email address to change ownership?

I tried this today but did not have the new owners user ID, so consequently I was unable to push the domain.

Anyone else encounter this?

you can select the "enter new info" radio button and just enter the email address without worrying about the account #

I think this was a bad call by godaddy.

I tried to transfer 2 new names to a buyer I sold and etc.

I think this occured either over the weekend or possible after last Wednesday or so.

Less security if you ask me.

What was so bad with the old system? Sure it took longer to do transfer but I just copied and pasted the needed info.

I came across the same problem the other day until I figured it out.
1. Make sure that the option 'Enter new details' is highlighted.
2. Enter the email address of the recipient and confirm.
3. Click on "next" to go to the next page
4. Enter all the details in required fields and click 'next'.
This takes you to a confirmation page.
You do not need the user name as well as contact email address to change ownership, the username is only an alternative to filling in the second page.

You can bypass this screen if you just put in the email address and then it takes you to the regular page. I don't plan to give out a username or account number and neither does anyone I pushed to.

Thanks filter

No - that did not work for me. They wanted the email address twice and the second field would not accept the info.

Really BAD - how do you explain to the buyer who has already paid his money that you don't know how to transfer the domain.

I asked the buyer his ID - will try again when I have that.

Appreciate your response.

Same thing for me! I went back and removed all the details, started over and it this time it was accepted.

before this new change, i have to ask buyer for their new contact information, now it's much better for me, privacy is safe, and change is good for me.

I was a bit confused at first too but then I noticed that you can enter new details and bypass having to enter an account number or user name.

I think the email has always been required though, otherwise how does the new owner get his transfer info.

I for one, will never give my account number or name to anyone.

It's really not a big deal, IMO, since you can bypass having to enter that info.. Basically still the same deal.

I haven't experienced any problem with GoDaddy. I will check on this new requirement.

Let's face it. Pretty much all pushes at registrars require you to give the seller your account id. I don't see this any different with GoDaddy.

I just received a domain using the new account id system. Once you receive notification of the CoA, you then go into Pending Account Changes and click on Quick Accept. I think the new system is much better.

Tried again this morning with buyers account ID.

Still no go.

Keep getting "Errors detected or Missing Information" or some such nonsense.

Grrrrr - mailed a support ticket

I pushed a domain this morning. I had to enter the member ID or their account# it was not bad for me at all. Only thing I did not like was that I still had to enter the persons name address etc. This should have been automatic. This is pretty much only new for godaddy, almost every register requires this kind of information. if you think this is bad then you must have never pushed a domain at Moniker.

I like domainsite the best far as pushing domains, very easy system they have.

Yes, but be sure to check the WhoIs info.

Yesterday, I "Quick Accepted" a domain transfer to my account and saw the WhoIs still had the Seller's info.

It's always a good idea to review the WhoIs anyway.
