    Hello Everyone,

    I hope all is well.

This is for GoDaddy Pro and Pro Plus members.

In case you don't know, When you purchase a new product at GoDaddy, They used to give you a certain percentage of cashback ( Reward Points which can be turned into in-store credit ) And you can use that for any future purchases.

Me as a Pro Plus member, They used to give me %10 of cashback for any new purchase, So if i purchased a domain via auction for $500 then i will have $50 back after a certain amount of time. Which i can use to purchase any other product at GoDaddy.

Unfortunately, They have decided to waive the rewards for any Auction Purchases, Which is not a welcoming move especially for us domainers.

In first place these rewards were subject to effect any new purchases at GoDaddy, And as far as i know, Purchasing a domain via auction is still a new purchase for us and a new product to hit our accounts.

Following up with their Pro Support, They never explained why this has occured and they just said it was a decision made by the Administrators.

    What are your thoughts ?

If it was indeed the case - then, since such a reward was not instantly available to 100% of auction participants, it should have never appeared in the 1st place. For the reasons of fairness. So, the decision is 100% correct, and, hopefully, it will also apply to ALL bulk api customers who may currently have access to such a service, be it 10% cashback or any other amount, or non-monetary benefits. Also, any rewards for ending up as the second highest bidder (if existed before or if exists now, no proofs here, just a conspiracy threory) should be completely eliminated.

The rewards are available for all Pro, Pro Plus members.

%5 for Pro Members and %10 for Pro Plus members.

In order to judge that you must first read about the GoDaddy Pro program and why these benefits are offered to the Pro and Pro Plus members.

I had no idea this thing existed Ive been losing 10% cashback..

But yeah if you ask me about a 50$ cashback on a 500$ auction, that sounds like a huge gift to me.
I mean if you used to buy from auctions regularly it meant you basically never had to pay for renewals??

Im curious if you guys knew about this.

Theres an important piece of info, I knew this wasnt possible.
You cant earn points on renewals or anything that uses discount code.
That 10% auctions reward was just a loophole.
Someone forgot to remove it, it shouldnt have been there in the first place.

I mean they didnt forget about renewals and discount code, but they did for auctions, which is worse.

How do I earn GoDaddy Pro member points and rewards?
As a member of GoDaddy Pro, you earn 5 points for every dollar (USD) you or your clients spend on eligible purchases, including:

    • All new products you send in a Cart to clients (who complete the purchase themselves).
    • All new products you purchase through your GoDaddy Pro account using your own or your client's payment methods.
    You can't earn points for:

No renewals, no discount club purchase, no auctions.
This basically becomes useless for us, I signed up for nothing lol.

Just looking at the current state of the world, and the near disappearance of affiliate returns in some sectors, I'd imagine many companies will be scaling back rewards etc, at least for the time being.

Nah dude. This program is just aimed at godaddy's business customers managing lots of hosting, email etc.. accounts on behalf of customers.
    https://www.godaddy.com/pro

Auctions had nothing to do with those customers. I think it was just a glitch.
    A juicy one.

The Pro program at GoDaddy had nothing to do with domain investors or Auctions. I didn't know they were giving a discount on Auctions purchased, glad they fixed it

Although not nearly as good as 5 or 10% - if you have not yet - sign up for Rakuten (ebates) & it will give you typically 2.5% back on any GoDaddy purchase (cash back to you PP act for example). It adds up

I haven't checked recently but until last month or so I was able to get 10% cashback on expiring domain purchsses which can be used for any purchase in the future. The 10% for Plus member (mine) is/was only be made available after 30 days of the purchase during which no refund or renewal has happened.

I'm not sure if there is any recent changes to this.

By the way, I've used thousands of dollars (cashback) back in buying expiring domains.

As i stated above, These rewards were subject to effect new product purchases at GoDaddy, Renewals are not considered a new product, But the domain is a new product to hit your account.

Some domain investors are also Pro/Pro Plus members, Buying a domain via auction is considered a new product to hit our accounts and we should get rewarded for it just like buying other products, I mean why not ?

Edit : I learned that Aftermarket purchases do not qualify for the rewards since you updated your disclaimer in 2019. But why this move went to action only now?

    Good read, Thanks.

Well I'm really surprised that many people had no clue about this program. As web developers, We qualified for the program a couple of years back. During that time i never thought this could be some sort of error on their end to offer the rewards for Auction Purchases, But i just took it as a benefit for Godaddy's Pro/Pro Plus users which are in advanced tier than normal users, But the qualifications for the program were not requiring that much. In fact i don't even remember applying for the program but i just found myself a Pro then a Pro Plus member. I probably forgot if i did apply, Not sure.

Referring to your post “The following purchase types do not earn GoDaddy Pro Rewards: Add-ons for Sites and/or ManageWP; renewals; domain club; aftermarket purchases; as well as other services not purchased via Shared Shopping Cart.” Well as you can see on the above screenshot, they never mentioned that Aftermarket Purchases do not qualify for the rewards when this program went to effect, They may have updated that as they decided to waive the rewards for Aftermarket Purchases, Which seem to be in 2019.

You may refer to the full article here

I had not looked before publishing my article, but you can see the disclaimer on this Archive.org listing from 2019 which says aftermarket purchases are not eligible for the program: https://web.archive.org/web/20190328014942/https://www.godaddy.com/pro#disclaimers

"The following purchase types are not eligible for the GoDaddy Pro 30% discount or in-store credit: any add-ons for Pro Sites and/or ManageWP; product renewals; domain club; aftermarket purchases; as well as other discounted products."

Well i have never came across this before, And referring to their article this was not mentioned, So i'm not sure if they had that in first place or they have updated it once they made the decision to waive the rewards for Aftermarket purchases.

Edit : It seems like they have updated it in 2019.

I updated my comment and posted a link to the page from 2019 (via Archive.org), where it says aftermarket purchases are not eligible.

Thanks, I can see this is updated by 2019, Scouring the Web archive, I still can't find it mentioned earlier than 2019 on previous disclaimers, However, If they have updated it by then i wonder why they never waived the rewards for Auction Purchases until now?
