GoDaddy Keeping Domains Like TuCows?

WaterSkiCentral.com is up for auction and DomainTools says it is owned by :

Godaddy Software
14455 N Hayden Rd
Suite 219
Scottsdale, AZ 85260
United States

It also says that GoDaddy:

"Godaddy Software" owns about 23,808 other domains

I'm not sure if they own them or if those 23,808 are waiting to drop.

Either way, I have never seen Godaddy's name as the owner on any domains like this before.

Godaddy does own domain names. However, I am not aware that godaddy is warehousing domain names like Tucow's freely admits. I believe Godaddy regged quite a few names back in the day, but most are under their own privacy now.

Interesting. Still unusual to see Godaddy's name on the domain of this nature. Maybe abusive use of domain, or something, and the domain was taken back? I can't see how though with water skiing as the subject.

eNom, I believe, is the worst offending registry in terms of warehousing domains. eNom and its affiliated registrars have been known to hold onto various "short" and premium domains. I do not believe it has ever been concluded whether eNom is actually profiting off of this or they are warehousing the domains for a third party for a fee (e.g. privacy).

Interesting post. I knew about Tucows but was not aware Enom was in the practice also (and potentially GoDaddy). I will keep an eye on this thread in case anyone has some hard data or knowledge of what's going on.

yes they can own, if we can own how much more the registrars they can use it for their own good as well.
