OK, sorry for a silly question but I searched around for a similar question and cant find anything.

I purchased an expired domain 4 1/2 hours ago at GoDaddy Auctions and I still do not have the domain. I have received only one email -- a receipt for the purchase.

Anyone know how long it usually takes to get the domain into my account? Is it normal to wait this long?

Look under the won, sold, watching, area - should see a list where your pending purchase is, with two dates. One is the close date, which is the time and date you bought it, and the status date which is generally a near 99% accurate timeframe of when to expect it in your account unless something goes awry. Check times too.

Thanks for mentioning the won tab! First name purchased thru there so I've never visited it and never even considered it. Just thought it would show in my account within minutes or so. Very cool, thank you!!!

I think he meant more along the lines of actually verifying seeing it listed in the account. But yes, it can take a few days to 10 or more. Depends, but it's usually pretty accurate. Sometimes they show late after midnight though.

My experience is it's not long after midnight the morning of the date you see on your "Won" list. It's usually like clockwork, at least for the expireds.

Usually, this takes about 7 days before it reflects in your account, provided the previous owner doesn't renew.

They send you an email when you get it.

BUT they don't if you don't. What does that mean? If it was being transferred from somewhere else, the owner can block that by renewing it. The only way to know if that has happened is check your list of transactions at Godaddy for one showing a refund, then open it (or them) up to see the name of the domain refunded. Not ideal - they should notify when this happens.

Thank you everyone! I certainly wouldnt have wasted anyone's time asking a silly question if I received an email from GoDaddy Auctions explaining the delivery time and all that I see now that you've pointed me to it. Ugh.

    Thanks again!!

Exactly. That's why it's crucial to hold records of your purchases with their "status" dates and to compare them time to time with what you actually get. GD will not always inform you that a deal got lost.
