I sold a domain at Godaddy which being $1000 the transaction was done through Escrow.com. I'm wondering if Escrow pay Godaddy and then they pay me, or dose Escrow just send me a check, either way its been 25 days now and no check has turned up.

So whats the procedure normally, check sent to me from escrow OR check sent to Godaddy THEN sent to me?

A little confused here... was your domain registered at GD and you sold it to another party OR did you sell the domain using GD's platform?.

Technically, the way escrow works is that once the buyer has deposited the funds with escrow, the seller will be required to transfer the domain name, upon completion of that, escrow will verify whether the buyer has received the domain in their possession, once that happens, escrow will release the funds to the seller.

If it's been 25 days, I would suggest you talk to someone at escrow and find out what the status is of this transaction.

I sold the domain on Godaddy's platform, but anything over $1000 i believe they use escrow for the payment. I have used escrow.com many times for private transactions, eg, on here at NP's etc and never had a problem with payment.

This transaction actually went on for over 3 weeks because apparently the buyer at godaddy was waiting for a "goddady agent" to do the transfer for him or some BS, basically the sale occurred back in mid November!

I'm far from impressed in Goddady and the buyer with this transaction and still im yet to see any money, which is why it occurred to me that maybe Escrow pay Godaddy the money then they pay me, obviously i have sent an email asking for clarification on the matter but i thought someone on here might give me a faster answer through past experience.

And yes the domain is registered at Godaddy, which is why i list all my domains there along with other sites.

I see, thanks for clarifying the situation, unfortunately, I've dealt with escrow.com but not with GD & escrow at the same time, hope it works out for you, and hopefully someone here with more experience might be able to help you...good luck.

Does GoDaddy initiate the Escrow transaction or are you expected to do that? If you don't know the answer to this question you should seek an answer from GoDaddy.

When the buyer receives the domain name, the buyer notifies Escrow.com, and then Escrow.com releases the funds to the seller. Escrow.com pays the funds by check, ACH, or wire transfer.

That seems to be a little bit weird, but it might explain why the money weren't sent to you. If the buyer failed to notify the escrow company, they're not verifying that the sale has gone through and you should be sent the funds (directly from Escrow.com from what I can infer).

In any case, you're a Godaddy customer, and they should provide you with answers regarding this transfer. Don't hesitate to contact them.

Unfortunately i havnt been able to follow this up until now due to being too busy, but i now see that the buyer of my domain still has my contact details on the WHOIS and im wondering if this is the issue why i havnt been paid, if you check EKAS.com you will clearly see my WHOIS info but at the top it says,

"Alon Shemesh" owns about73 other domains

This is clearly not me.

I have received a PM from ESCROW.com i notice so im hoping we can sort this out ASAP.

Well after Brandon (and Mickey) from Escrow took a look at this transaction they personally got involved, issuing a new check which i received several days later here in Australia (which was very fast IMO).

I was very impressed with their level of customer service and nothing was too much trouble in getting to the bottom of this transaction.

Its nice to know that Namepros members are looked after by the top guys at Escrow.

Very happy, thanks to all for the help.:tu:
