One of my domains reg'd at Godaddy shows this:
Domain on hold
A potential buyer added the domain to the cart for purchasing. You can't make changes to the price until the hold is removed. Domain is still listed for sale until the potential buyer completes the purchase.

By domain holding I mean holding a domain during the period a contract is being fulfilled.
* Moniker used to long ago. But now it is busted :(
