GoDaddy drop catch - Any good ?

Hi all.

It seems quite a few companies offer a drop catching service with very different prices. There must be a reason for this - maybe some are better than others ? Godaddy seems the best value and you can 'roll over' the fee if the drop catch is not successful. Is the success rate with Godaddy OK or is it best to look elsewhere ?

Best,
Paul

GoDaddy has a pretty poor success rate with .coms in my experience. When trying to catch it with GD and other companies, I get it at GD maybe 5% of the time if that.

Thanks!

Thanks Svede. Which is the best drop catcher in your opinion - I guess there is nothing to stop you using more than one for the same domain ?

Just had a look at another thread and dropcatch.com seems good. The only drawback is that they appear to always put the domains to auction if they win ?

Best,
Paul

DropCatch.com is best I think, but I don't like their practices (public auction) and they never got back to me when I was trying to verify my account (so I can bid higher than base price) so I don't use them.

SnapNames.com is probably the best that I used, but they do cost $69 (if caught) so it needs to be a good name (which usually means high bidding).

NameJet.com is decent and I will try it there as well if I really want a name, but they cost $69 (if caught) as well and get less than SnapNames (still a lot better than GD).

Pheenix.com tends to be my go-to, although I know some haven't had good experiences with them. I find they don't have a super high win % against the bigger dropcatches, but I have gotten a fair amount where I have tried getting it through Pheenix and SnapNames and NameJet so I think that says something. They only cost $18.95 (less than GD) so it usually works out well for me. I also love their simple design and straightforwardness.

Those are the primary ones I have experience in dropcatches for .coms...

Hope that helps!

That helps a lot thank you. There is a half decent one dropping tomorrow so I am going to head off to Pheenix now and see how I get on.

Many thanks.

Best,
Paul

Just a quick update Svede. I have put in the drop catch with Pheenix and must say I find the website a pleasure to work with. No airs or graces - just straight down to business.

If everything in life were this simple ;)

Paul

The ones @svede listed are some of the most popular and successful. Amongst those, there are a few others which are pretty good (and have about the same success as Pheenix)

Hi Paul,
I have had very limited success using GoDaddy's namedrop backordering service to secure domain names. It's been my experience that they are only good (an loosely at that) with securing obscure domain names that nobody else wants and therefore fall under the radar of all the aggressive namedrop service companies.

I use to have success with Pheenix when they first came along. Grabbed a few good ones and went into private auctions with others as well for some names. But recently haven't have much success with them.

Godaddy's dropcatch never catches any worthwhile .com's for me. They do catch .info's though, if your into that kinda thing.
