You will not get the domain if someone places a bid on it while in auction. Your best bet is to monitor it on your watchlist on tdnam so no one buys it on auction and it makes it to the firesale. So if you could cancel your backorder and use the buy it now when its 5$ you can save ~9$. But with a back order in place you will be sure to get it once the auction is over if no one bids.

It will probably go to the backorder before it hits the $5 bin, at least that's what I've seen happen. Nothing is for sure.

Be sure to watch it at the last minute. A lot of us wait till the last minute to place a bid. I've lost some good ones when I couldn't be there at the end.

If you place a backorder on a name, they will just send it to TDNam anyway, with your bid at $10 and with 10 days of showing a bid on your name. If anyone outbids you, they get the name and you get credit, rather than a refund. If you don't place the backorder, it will go to the same auction without a bid. Hopefully no one will notice it. You place your bid in the last few minutes, or on the last day. You either win it, or don't, but if you don't, you keep your money.

All in all, backorders with Godaddy are a waste of time and do more harm than good. Wait for the auction on TDNam and bid, and if it never makes it to auction there, you just have to make a readl bid to the owner of the name.

I just acquired a domain name on GD Backorder but I will not use their services again. I think I was very lucky, the domain was being tasted and the user dropped it..somehow GD picked it up about 6 days later...after they sent me an initial email that they failed to acquire the domain name.

Always check the auctions first, even if you have to spend more...use GD's service only as a last resort after Snapnames, Pool, Enom..etc.

I backordered a domain through GoDaddy. The domain was also registered through GoDaddy. Normally, this would have resulted in a capture (with any other registrar). However, it did not.

Sad. Very sad.

GoDaddy Backorders

I would like to know where the $20 goes if your backorder isn't captured by godaddy?

I recently back ordered two domains on godaddy and the domain was NOT captured by godaddy but snapnames. The domain was originally bought at godaddy.

You would think that godaddy would have reign of the the domains that were originally purchased through them, and that they would be avaliable to purchase through godaddy's auction site, tdnam, or captured immediately. Whats the deal?

Does godaddy own snapnames too??? Seems like a scam...

Then you pick a different domain name until they fulfill your order. From what I understand.
