Hi all,

Since last week I am trying to bid on domains that I would easily win for $12. Now these names are going from $12 to $500 in like 5 minutes.

Like today, I forgot to place a bid on a brandable .com. There was no bid and only 1 minute left. I was sure there was nobody else interested in that name... I place my $12 bid then another bidder automaticly jumped in the auction... This person/bot is hard to beat. Names that should go for $12 to $50 goes to $300 or $500! There's no way to beat him.

Am I the only one who as notice this?

Wouldn't be the first time. What is the name? If it ends up in one of the aftermarkets owned by Godaddy you might be right. Otherwise, it just some guy like me waiting until the last minute.

I will keep you updated. I am waiting for owner change on at least 3 names.

You know everything how to bid on an auction. And for this you came last. You thought there is nobody interested to bid on. But sad luck. However, try next. Thanks!

I never had this experience on Godaddy auction and I have been using the service since 2012.

There is now a lot more competition than before. And I know some investors like Mr. Shilling that are using bots to win auctions.

Winning a godaddy auction is getting harder, not impossible.

sorry to hijack this post but I really wonder on a similar marketplace like 4.cn the Chinese version of Godaddy only on steroids.

like I said. list a domain as Buy It Now. and then price it ridiculously high.

That will get views for sure guaranteed.
going by the info in this thread. so. is it safe to assume those views could be that potential "Sniper" who will IF THE DOMAIN GOES TO AUCTION (PAID) bid at the last minute? and by default perhaps create a bidding war among all those viewers?

or are those viewers when the domain was just bin just that? Viewers?

Placing a last minute auction bid always leads to a bidding war between all the domainers who were waiting to snipe the name.

Agreed, however I if someone is interested in the name they should secure it with a bid and not leave it up to chance at closeout. Once it's gone from closeout, the price will be far greater than at auction.

This person/bot is hard to beat. Names that should go for $12 to $50 goes to $300 or $500! There's no way to beat him.

I do this often. I'll wait for the last minute and see a few bids come in, and then a bidding war begins.

Most times that 'good name' someone thinks they are about to win is being eyed by 3-5 other domainers.

Or it Could be noobs wildly bidding or Brand Bucket employees w/ a marketplace ready to promote their brandable domains first above all others.

Luck, skill, timing, and strategy all play into GD auctions these days.

Here are the three names I didn't win at godaddy auctions:

rvliquidators.com $1,350 (84 Bids)
popstudios.com $200 (14 Bids)
popsound.com $470 (36 Bids)

I had to quit popsound.com b/c of timing. Whois address is in HK.
rvliquidators.com was bought by the company that owns rvliquidator.com. I made sure they paid full price.

I won one name for $64 that is easily worth $3.5k. I'm happy with that.

I think what your seeing is normal activity. If you're not going to be open about the names / bids then you have nothing to complain about.

When Snapnames was running up auction prices it was exposed b/c people shared their data.

if you bid when there's less than 5 minutes to go godaddy adds an additional 5 minute to the auction
eBay never add additional minutes for the auction! If the time ends for that auction that's it! And if you are the higher bidder you get the item period! And if the first winner don't want it, the second higher bidder have the choice to buy the item.

wow! really? snapnames? I was about to sign up with them. I don't like that you MUST transfer your domain to Netsol FIRST to sell with them.

do they still do that over at snapnames?

No they don't. They claim it was one employee. Google "snapname, halverez, nelson brady" for more info.

Nelson cost me and other thousands of $$. SnapNames paid some back but DIDN'T give us the names he stole with shill bids.

I lost several great names to Halverez, worth tens of thousands of $$.
