Geo.tld issues?

I've just regged two famous euro ski resort as in "name.tld" in a tld that came out at the middle of July .
Feeling these would be good for Info on the resorts and prehaps info regarding condos apartments hotels even lift passes etc. I've notice that a few are still available but more importantly quite a few of the well known ones such as Whistler(dot)me actually point to the official site.

I can understand that citys cant be trademarked but can geos such as this,where a big corporation owns a recreational park such as a skiresort be seen as a trademark?

I'm intrigued to know many thanks
