Are there any geo domain specific popular forums(or sub forums)? What are some good resources for geo domains besides associated cities - I see they have a GEO expo in April 2010. Are there other geo related auctions or events upcoming? Ive poked around at the bigger DN sites dont see much.

The one other site I know of/belong to, is GeoDomainer.com. But they've gotten pretty dormat over there lately. Steve also ran a site called SimplyGeo.com, but seems his last blog was in April.

Big fan of geos here, but unaware of any specific forums or resources. Most of my serious successes in geo domains comes from selling them to area professionals; eg. I hand-regged a ton of Lake Tahoe-area kw domains, did some testing and on the better ones built out basic content or UGC sites, with each pointing to a relo lead capture form. Once they were up they were essentially self-maintaining, and 90 days worth of traffic and leads was sufficient to sell off the parcel to a real estate company in that area. Did something similar with an insurance agent in Florida on auto and life leads ... the pitch to these end users is pretty simple inasmuch as what they are buying doesn't cost much more than a Yellow Pages feature or prominent ad in their local newspaper, but unlike those advertising services they are laser-targeted and already bringing in leads.

Lawyers, real estate, "opt-in" doctors like plastic surgeons and lasik, insurance, all great end user businesses for geolocal domains.

when I tried to contact associated cities, I have never received any replies, neither email nor phone calls.

Forget about all these forums they are all to snob. If you don't have a pure GEO.com they just ignore you so I hope that new GeoOwners.com will accept GEO in other tlds.

The barriers to entry for Associated Cities are pretty high (and rightly so).
I'm not sure precisely what metrics the use, but I do know you have to own the pure .com of a meaningful location to get accepted. I cannot imagine they would 'ignore' contact from someone who owned a desirable city.com. city.com owners deal with unique dynamics that are not remotely in the same league as city.anyotherTLD. They deserve their own club, let them have it.

Anyway, yes, huge geo fan. My personally owned, non-business portfolio is a 'wee bit' overweight in them :D

Very recently added .org Farmington Hills to the stable of personally owned names.
Also own a fairly wide array of E and I prefix city .com's (iBellevue, iLas Cruces, iChapel Hill, iHillsboro, etc, etc, etc), which I also love.
