Gaining domains but zero sales?

I started out being a newbie a few months back. I've bought and reg'd some pretty horrible names and wasted some money. But I've also bought and reg'd a few good names imho also. These good names though are not selling after numerous emails to potential end users. An example would be the one single adult domain I bought. Sent out over 50 professionally written emails twice to some of the top adult websites out there and not one reply?

I've had a couple on sedo's featured list also used as a hook in those emails and notta nothing. What am I doing wrong? I've read over "How to reach potential end users" thread atleast 20 times along with numerous other articles here and elsewhere. I know the people I'm emailing about my domains are the people who would purchase my domains. But still nothing in sales with all my efforts. Not even an offer :'(

Thanks for insight,
Rob.........

Hello there,

First off, you need to acquire a domainer skill: patience :)
Even a great name will not always sell overnight.
I believe any decent domain name should eventually find a buyer or be put to some use. If you don't sell develop and monetize your names. Developed names can still be sold but then you have an edge and you make your names more valuable.
We all make mistakes when starting out. Get rid of your worst names. Separate the wheat from the chaff. Concentrate on the best names. Be selective when registering names.

If you have names that may suit a particular market type/niche why not run an advertising campaign in specialized media ? You will get more powerful exposure. You got to have faith in your domains too.
Also you may be targetting end users who already have a domain name. Even if you offer a better one, no guarantee they will want to buy yours and go through the hassle of rebranding. Hence my suggestion of advertising so you can reach the other people, those looking to start up a new venture.
In business domain names are strategic assets. With a strong domain you are already one step ahead of the competition. Here is how I would present things :gl:
Best of luck with your endeavours. Again, don't be in a hurry to sell. From my experience it can take 1-2 year before I get an end user offer for a name. You can also try to post your names for sale here but you would then be looking for reseller rate. End user sales are more rewarding but they do not take place everyday.

My advice....Stop trying....When i say that...I don't mean give up domaining..Simply take some time off from trying to sell domain names..Don't be one dimentional....Exercise all the avenues with your names..Park them..Develope them...Re-direct them....You can take a name no one wants to buy...develope it..and make revenue via publishers....Don't pay as much attention to what one or two people may say about a domain name you just purchased,Have an idea in store for the domain name you reg or buy...be it future or present...I took a name that was appraised here at reg fee and low xx and developed into a $1,200 a month income...I didn't do anything special anyone esle couldn't do to make the name work for me...I put alot of research and hard work into making it do so...Don't worry about what other people are saying or doing...Have a plan in store for each domain you reg or buy...Take action..be motivated to make that name work for you...people who actually buy and sell domains are few and far between in this industry...meaning...buying to just turn around and sell for a substancial profit...It takes alot of capital to be able to do that...Stay focused and work within your budget to make your names work for you.

Yep stick with the good ones and go for PPC in the meantime. Good names will get offers eventually....I got a ยฃ2000 offer the other day on one I regged in 2001......first offer on it.

It takes time. I could have been writing this post about 2 years ago. Youjust have to do all the small things. List names wherever you can - create a great domain portfolio site - really take Parking seriously - so you dont have to sell anything. -- and eventually the sales starts to come. Prior to 06 I had never sold a name - Just bought a BUNCH. Then the sales started to come. one by one. Also what helped was reading How I sell My domain names by edwin john. See my review: http://www.fleege.com/NewFiles/How-To-Sell-Domains.html - it really emphasises putting your names to work and becoming a domain entrepreneuer rather than a mere speculator as many people buy names and hope that someone one day will need just that name.

Read everybodies replies here 2 more times. They are all correct and hit the nail on the head.

Believe it or not, 50 emails to end-users is not much. It's been reported here that you'll usually see a return of 1 in 100 emails. That's one bite out of a hundred. It isn't easy and everyone here has given great advice. Patience is a must. Good luck! :)
