I was speaking with my GoDaddy account manager last week - after a few "surprise" auto renewals on GD names I own. He told me that Auto-Renewal is the default now on newly purchased GoDaddy domain names. Meaning you have to manually select "Cancel Auto-Renewal" going forward on names you don't want auto-renewal set on. I'd watch this closely. About a week ago, they had a button at the final purchase screen you could un-click to opt out. I don't see if anymore. Word to the wise.
