New vertiport for PENN STATE UNIVERSITY

Volatus plans to build a vertiport near Pennsylvania State University.

Volatus says it will build a "public use FAA-compliant" eVTOL vertiport at Bellefonte Airport near Penn State. The vertiport is expected to be operational later this year.

"A project that started out as a way to get fans to Penn State games without sitting in traffic ... has turned into what will become the center of an eVTOL ecosystem for the East Coast," said Grant Fisk, Volatus' co-founder.

"Bellefonte Airport is within 90 miles of all the major cities so it just makes sense to expand this location which will lay the foundation for the eVTOL infrastructure ecosystem for the East Coast.”

Flying taxis are coming. Cities will need dozens of vertiports.

A large, dense, high-income city, such as New York or London, will need 20 to 30 vertiports, according to McKinsey & Company.

Medium-size cities such as Atlanta, Dallas or Denver might require 10 to 18 vertiports.

Just one eVTOL operator could operate 20,000 flights a day. By comparison, Southwest Airlines averages 2,900 domestic flights a day.

Most eVTOL aircraft would fly short routes between downtowns and nearby airports or cities.

The 3 main eVTOL business models

There are 3 main business models which eVTOL service operators are focusing on, and the most effective vertiport operators will need to be agnostic to support all of them.

Intra-city: This business model will serve commuters traveling across large cities and their surrounding neighborhoods on short routes of up to 30 miles (50 km).

Intra-airline: This model is point-to-airline travel of up to 100 miles (150 km). This would offer passengers significantly reduced journey times, such as between an airline hub and metropolitan area not served by traditional air-service operations.

Inter-city: This model offers routes between 30 to 200 miles (50 to 300 km) benefiting passengers with considerable time savings where there are no existing connections by air or other transportation modes.

The very first drone orders (of food) are happening now in Dubai.

Great times ahead for this niche, that belongs in any futuristic city.

Amazon as well: https://www.cdotrends.com/story/17780/amazon-completes-first-drone-deliveries

"A study by Carnegie Mellon researchers reported that delivery drones emit 84% less greenhouse gases than diesel trucks and 31% less than electric vans."

eVTOLs now offered for sale to private customers

Now anyone with a spare $495,000 can buy an eVTOL (electric vehicle take-off and landing aircraft) for private use.

LIFT Aircraft says its planned network of vertiports guarantee that HEXA eVTOL buyers gain access to multiple locations to hangar, recharge, and fly their electric aircrafts.

"There are multiple ways to own, including a leaseback/rental program that can offset much, if not all, of your cost of ownership," the company states.

"With a $5,000 refundable deposit, you will experience the magic of electric, vertical flight before finalizing your purchase."
