Future of CC?

Just curious to get opinions on the future (values) of the CC tld. It's certainly better than ws, which no one seems to like. It does not (seem to) designate a country, so it can be used internationally. The reg fee is higher, but it is still only $20 a year on Godaddy and some other sites.

I'm only talking about premium name cc's, not your normal two-word names. For example, if you owned business.cc, obviously, it's worth a decent amount (albeit a very small 1-2% of a .com value).

I agree with you that .cc is more desireable than .ws...I believe there has been more sales with .cc. The thing is though...a lot of the one words are gone in the .ws extension while they are still available in .cc. Is it because of the more expensive reg fee? Or is it because of the landrush when .ws was released? I have no idea what the time factor was on the release of these two extensions. Maybe someone can enlighten us.

I am a .cc fan and believer. I recently landed Attorney.cc and I'm holding on to a couple place names and one premium 3 letter .cc for later. I'm holding out for a better market for the domains even though I do get laughed at sometimes when I get inquiries on the names. There's a crowd of us out there who knows its only a matter of time.

I think the .cc ext. has trumped the .ws extension because it comes off as the better extension perhaps because of the reg. fee and perhaps because so many didn't like the promotions of .ws. I was into the .ws ext. a while back (and still have a couple) but it seems to me that I see these names selling rather cheaply. I don't know if there is some one thing that you can put your finger on and say this is why the .cc is doing better or will do better.

I have been seeing more and more websites with the .cc extension. It is easy to remember---I think it will continue to grow. I do think the price hurts it a little but 17.99 is not to bad if you find some good words.
I just picked up WeddingDress.cc today.
I was surprised it was not taken because I am seeing more and more good names already taken.
PromDress.cc was already taken and it gets about a third of ovt that WeddingDress gets

I've picked up some tremendous one-word names recently, some outright regs, and some purchases. Not many unreged, marketable one-word ones left now that I've combed thourgh them all for the last few days. But some of my best ones are two words, like VirtualReality.cc, LivingTrust.cc and MedicalInsurance.cc. I do believe they have to be of this level of quality to really pay off though. I don't think names like BestChairs.cc, for example, will ever pay off becuase there are just too many other names to make up that can work as well.

I have sold some .cc domains...
just as gambling.cc/information.cc/cost.cc/tourist.cc...
but not for much....only for some Paypal.....

this year...the price of .cc domain are higher than last year....
and there are NN/LL.cc for sale...and good .cc domains are not easy to catch now...

I think that if they drop their price to be comparable in price to .ws, then they will take off. I think that many chinese people like it. Wretch.cc is very popular.

I think that it is better than .ws and .tv but I think that it falls behind them in overall popularity for now.

Of all the 'Pacific' extentions I only really fancy .TV which is in my opinion a really great extention. A bit pricy, but still...

.CC ... I am not sure. It is easy to remember, but it makes little sense. I mean, football.cc ?? What can the .cc possibly mean? People, especially new internet users, will think you mean .com and type in a wrong URL.

I am not sure but I think .ws is better to remember because it is so different from the usual .com, .net, .org, ... so no mix-up possible.

IMO to own a few good one word .cc's (or really good 2 word ones like yours medicalinsurance or virtualreality) is a good investment:

1. They are still relatively cheap or even available.
2. It is branded as a global extension and promoted by Verisign, at least they have the funds to promote it.
3. Like Vurg is saying China likes it and is using it more and more.
4. When people will get used to type in more different extensions (eu / mobi/ tv) the .cc extension is easy to remember.
5. Often mentioned as brandable for financial purposes (.cc as credit card).

Personally, I think that is is important to go only for the really good (preferably one word) keywords like Denver's attorney.cc as the risk is much less, I have only 6 .cc's (loan, loans, finance, india, dogs, switzerland) and will stick to that, also to keep the total reg fee reasonable.

I don't see how the math makes sense on .cc given the combo of the high reg fee, low resell rate and low perceived value. I own one - pcgame.cc and can't give the thing away. It has great OVT and enormous google results to boot.

I almost registerd rats.cc I wish that I did...
I still know of a 1word .cc name that isn't taken but, Theres plenty of 1 word .nets and .orgs still available why would I go for a .cc?

There's a crowd of us out there who knows its only a matter of time.

My friend part of that ''crowd'' he got uzi.cc and is hoping it will go up a lot in value. It's worth a decent ammount right now I think

Most of the top keyword .ccs are gone. I do own a few prime .cc, and also have sold a few .... (including the famous us.cc which i sold to rj for a paltry 1.8k )

I do believe that the .cc will never pass a gltd, however, it is a somewhat known to the general public (thanks to uni.cc) and it has that verisign cctld factor in it .

I do believe a few credit card companies do market .cc as credit card.

check.cc & €.cc . Both which IMO incorporate the credit card thing perfectly, and once IE7 really rolls out, all of europe can type €.cc so easily, lots of end users.

I would never touch .ws I see no future for it, except among domain collectors, however .cc is easy to remember.

I was amazed to find Espana.cc had dropped and so regged it.

Also with the $x,xxx recent sales of US.cc USA.cc EU.cc and UK.cc I decided to take EEUU.cc the Spanish initials for United States.

That will probably be the limit to my .cc registrations unless I come across anything else spectacular. (but I said that 10,000 ccTlds ago).

I've had some .cc names for over 2 years now. I have had 2 mid $xxx sales (Ringtone.cc and Meat.cc), but not a whole heck of a lot besides that. As far as my regged .cc names go (aka Ad.cc not counted since I paid mid $xxx for it), the only one I'm expecting a large sale of is Myspace.cc because believe it or not, it gets over 30 uniques a day TYPE-IN...there was never a site on Myspace.cc, so it's not some previous site or anything. How bout that spillover?! I still think it's funny that I sold MySite.cc close to a year after I initially regged it for $15, then the owner wound up not renewing and I regged it again, and thanks to my WWD Reseller, I get them for about $15, so I essentially got a year of reg for free because someone was not all there! I still love that one, and I do have a lot of nice 1-word .cc names, but I still wouldn't bet on them selling for even low $xxx within the next year. .cc has remained mostly stagnant while watching .in and .eu burn up the charts.

As far as .ws goes, my best .ws sale was Businesses.ws for a whopping $50 about a year ago. I only currently own 2, Jones.ws (my last name) and FreePorn.ws, and with almost 2 million OVT backing "free porn", I'm not selling that one for less than high $xxx no matter how long it takes. I'm pretty sure though that I'm not going to buy another .ws ever.
