So I have a few ideas for websites that could earn me a consider amount of money - not YouTube, perhaps, but still nothing to sneer at.

My question is - are there any business angels or venture capitalists out there catering specifically to investing in online start-ups? Where can I find them? As I live in Switzerland, a lot of US VC directories are useless to me. Unfortunately, I haven't got the skills to design those sites myself, and, yet, at the same time, I imagine the cost should be pretty low ($10,000 all in all).

I'm in the same boat - from what I've, most angel investors won't even consider any investments less than $500,000... or was it $50,000? Either way, I've been having the same problem finding funding for an idea I have that would cost about $5,000 to get off the ground.

If you have confidence in your idea, why not invess your money? Take a loan from the bank if you have to. ;)

How so? If you have a million dollar idea on your hands, but do not have the funds to start the company out of your pocket. Its very easy to get a loan from a bank. Unless i missed somehting?

No, it isn't.

The problem is that you're not sure your idea is a million-dollar idea until you try it. And if it falls through, you're pretty much screwed.

Anyone who thinks getting a loan much less for business is easy is fooling themselves.

GL on getting your funding.

Another question. What is going to cost you so much to start? You dont need the best equipment right off the start. A simple hosting plan, nice design, and domain will take you farther than you think...

Investment capital and debt add too much unnecessary risk for a typical startup venture. If you really believe in your idea, you should find a way to self-fund it. If capital is what you need then take one or more extra part-time jobs and put away that income into a high-gain savings account. If your idea is particularly good, you may be able to get one or more friends involved with the business. However, at that point you will really need to formally organize a corporation or partnership. Good fences make good neighbors and you will need a plan to protect your friendships from the ravages of the business succeeding or failing.

VCs usually don't invest money in ideas. You need to do some development first and have a good business plan. frankr's approach is probably your best bet, but think twice about partnerships. I have been in two that didn't work out. Good luck!

Hi Guys, if you guys are interested in a loan, I'm willing to help out. If everything works out after a few month, I'm down to invest in equity as well. Please PM me.

Thanx
