I have noticed that whilst selling domains via sedo if the buyer is French they invariably ask for a receipt.
This has been true no matter what the purchase amount, from $60 - $7000!

I am wondering if their tax laws are such that they are required to produce receipts for any purchases, regardless of how much or do they have such a big tax break that it is worth reporting each and every purchase, be they large or small?

Maybe there is some other reason???

Are there any French domainers who can shed some light on this?

They need the receipt to recover the VAT.

Interesting....I do not add VAT to my sale price so who are they paying this tax to that they are subsequently claiming back? Is it just presumed that any purchase has an inherent amount that is tax deductable?

In fact, I might be wrong about the VAT. Anyway, French businesses need to account all of their expenses, this is why all receipts are preciously collected :)
