Hi All - Not sure if this is the right spot but I am sure it will be moved if it is not.

I have developed my domain NF25.com into a simple domain, website and app auction marketplace (bit Flippa like)

It is basic and so I want to attract listings so I have made it free to list your domains for auction.

Looking for feedback and questions and ideas to populate FAQ.

I have asked for a quote from my guy to add a bulk listing facility so that is comming.

Pricing = FREE to list - $25 to Feature - NO Successful sale fee.
NamePro members can email me when they post a Premium Domain and I will make it Featured for FREE as well.

Currently I have made the listing free - the feature and success fees are set.

Let me know what you think and find.

Thanks

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.

Before listing on your site, and eventually paying, could you show us some traffic stats?

Thanks for your enquiry. It tells me I have to be better prepared and further developed
Currently have none. As stated in my post It has not been released yet (by way of any SEO work) I literally only loaded some of my domains today so all new. Your question tells me I need to start paying for regular directory and search engine listings today. I have added Google analytics tracking code so will see how it goes.
Thanks

Update just booked and paid for basic monthly submission to 400 directories and search engines as a start to SEO. Will get some quote over next week for serious SEO.

Build a list dude so you can promote auctions to your list, pretty much the same as dtrader has built up

This will almost be impossible to pull off unless you have something unique. A new innovative way that encourages users to take the plunge because it offers a new and a unique potential. But, a site that allows temporary free listing while talking about future pay listing comes across as asking people to waste their precious time on a website that has no traffic in order to help the website get off the ground so you can start charging a listing AND also a success fee. You're literally asking people to come and work for you for free on something that is neither unique or popular nor even matches what is already out there.
I'm sorry to sound all doomy and gloomy but that is the reality of the situation. My advice would be for you to start some kind of a domaining related blog/website attract users, harness an email list and then roll that out to the users who trust you, you need to also give them something that others don't. EX. a completely Free site with no listing/success fee forever (that can be your niche) you can generate income through advertising and other domain related sales and deals. But, if you insist on charging. You can choose either a small listing fee, or a small success fee but not both. You can be the Free or the almost free alternative to all the others. Even that will require a lot of work and promotion but not near impossible.

Thanks very much guys. Very good advice. My skills at blogging are very limited but I will try. The site has a blog facility but I haven't really looked at it because I am not sure what to do and am a little time poor. I will look more into it. Good thoughts on the free to list and no success fee. Will implement that now so only fee will be to feature a listing. I thought $25 to feature was cheap enough what do you think?

Thanks

You can not set or even plan prices ahead of any measurable success. You need to make it free and open, YOU should personally feature any Good/Great premium domains for free. You're not doing them a favor as much as they are doing your website a big favor for having a nice/premium showcased domains at your new site. When your website gains a good reputation and enough traffic to justify it, then and only then charging for featuring domains will make any sense. And don't worry, money from listings is not the only method to make money. Ads and deals with registrars, hosting companies blogs, etc can be worth your while. and in the distant future when you are successful, you can revisit the above from a position of strength. But right now you should stop thinking about it, and concentrate on getting some traction first. Good luck!

I dont think anybody would pay $25 to list a domain on a site that doesnt have any traffic.

You would probably be better working on a commission percentage instead. Build up a newsletter list then you could sell promotion to your list

Thanks for the input guys. Ok to stop anybody making even junk names features I will leave the features at $25 but I will make NamePros members Premium names Featured for free. I can do that through the back end. Can I ask in return for people to put a link to my website on their websites and landing pages.

If you post a Premium name please email me so I can feature it for free. I will check listings each day to try and find them as they come but an email will help until I get into the rhythm.

I have just added a post to the Blog to see how it works. Unfortunately I am a boring old accountant so I am great with figures but not so good on talk. I will see what I can do to organise a newsletter and blog management.

Keep the advice coming I really appreciate it. LISTINGS ARE FREE and there is NO SUCCESS FEE
