Hi everybody,
register.com opened their free domain registration again :)
The domain is totally free, but is limited to one/person.
(never try to get more than one domain on a single account and credit card, or try it to see your domains out of your account(removed from your account))
while registering your domain, uncheck the auto-renew box and you can be assured that you are not going to pay for that domain new year.
you can register .com/net/org/info/us/biz.
I got this link because register.com post this offer sometimes to some of their customers, so, I got this link, and please don't abuse it, and register only ONE domain:
http://link.register[dot]com/h/N37TO/MNZ17/SU/5VG0JT
Second link:
http://www.register[dot]com/promo/acquisitions_lp_1.rcmx?trkID=EMAoFkNb1W
(change [dot] to .)
btw, reps would be appreciated :)
Thanks all

well, be sure that they don't charge next year.
I'm not their sale representative and don't like them very much, but I'm sure if you turn off the auto renew while registering or after it, it will not charge you the next year.(in yahoo although you pay 1.99 for the first year they WILL charge you the next year! even if you've transferred your domain to another registrar. and with this problem many as I myself register domains with it(although if you cancel your account before the time, they don't charge you, but its so hard!)! Now with lots of great features and one of the best qualities, it's for free and no one seems interested :|)
and they have DNS services for free on their system. I've never saw anything like this for free.
And also I think if you register with more than one user with different details and names under one credit card it's possible and they don't remove the domains.
one of my friends got two domains in two separate accounts but with one credit card, and they didn't ban him.

You have the option to pay with your paypal. Which I have done. All I did was logged into my paypal acct when it came to the time. And didnt have to enter any cc info.

Can you transfer the domain to another registar? Can you push the domain to another register.com account for free?

I have heard that you can not do any of these in the first year the domain is regged with them through this promotion. Correct me if im wrong.

Its the usual 60 days. Answer found at this link
http://www.register.com/policy/servicesagreement.rcmx#16

Transfers; Agents and Licenses

You agree that you may not transfer a domain name registration to another domain name registrar during the first sixty (60) days from the effective date of the initial domain name registration with us, or at any time after its expiration date unless the domain name is renewed with Register.com prior to initiation of the transfer of registrar. After that time, you may transfer your domain name registration to a third party domain name registrar of your choice, subject to our then-current policies and procedures incorporated herein by reference. (click here for our specific transfer policies and procedures).

Well, as I had experienced them, you don't have any difference to any other account on register.com.
you get the same support, the same options, the same everything they get(but they pay $35 for it).
You can transfer the domain(you need to contact their support after the 60 first days, and they give you the auth code to transfer.)
Their support is nice, and an award winning support.
Pushing is very easy and secure. I tried that and its really nice.
I love this service because I paid $1.99 for 1/10 of it on yahoo, and with all these great features its free!
So, any questions, please ask, because I had the experience, and btw, I appreciate reps :)

i talked to support about my above questions and you can transfer after the 60 days and you can push the domain if you want. I think that if they find out you are not using it for business purposes they might take the domain away. I doubt it though.

About the push, you can do it when you want! even the first day!
And yes, for the transfer its possible to do after the 60 days.
They don't check what you are doing with that domain.
The thing that matters to them is registering more than 1 domain per account!
If you've registered more than 1 domain, they remove that domain from your account and ask you to pay $35 for it to activate.(I agree them in this way:))

$35 is a bit steep considering the myriad of registrars offering TLDs for as little as $7-10...

Use a prepaid credit card, with no money on it so they cannot charge for the second year.

thanks a bunch...

Just registered sfbyp.com for free.

Plan on developing it as a Yellow Pages type site for the South Florida area.

SFBYP = South Florida Business Yellow Pages

:)

Be Careful !

Bad news guys, I just registered a domain and the Control Panel says:

"This domain belongs to a bundle and cannot be transfered."

so looks like you'll have to renew it for $35 within 1 year if you wanna keep it...

TNSTAAFL rings a bell?

pibesusa, I really don't know what has happened to you, but in my panel, there seems no problem , and when I asked them that if I can get the auth code for transfer , they told me that I can absolutely transfer it without renewing.
have you called them?
