I had sold a domain on eBay, 9VT.net to a Bidder Id Removed for now using the email address of Email Address Removed for now ! I pushed them the domain instantly after payment and you can check whois, as it shows them as the holder of the domain, but they got paypal to reverse the payment. I think they hacked into somebody's paypal account and paid with there funds.

It's a $22.49 loss to me, but this is very upsetting that paypal would do this as I provided them so much info, showing them they have control of the domain, the push etc.

Ouch, that sucks. I never tried selling any of my names on ebay but thanks for warning.

Sorry to hear that. That's unfortunately one of the reasons I never accept Paypal on any purchases :(

Just an update. I emailed 2 other's on eBay that have sold to this buyer and All of there transaction are in Disputes as well.

I contacted the buyer, and they state they did not reclaim anything (which might be true) but paypal stated they did the reclaim due to some kind of fraud. Paypal stated that either the credit card on file is a fake, the bank account listed is a fake or somebody hacked in and changed some financial info.

I will be working with paypal, to try and come up with a feature for Domainers and I will keep you informed.

The thing that ticks me off..... is paypal will cover a physical product that is shipped with a tracking number etc.

With domains, you can provide MORE info then just a tracking number. When you do a Push or Transfer there is a Huge Paper Trail and everything is way more trackable then some package sent via snail mail.

Sorry to hear Jamie. Although considering how many online transactions you do - this was bound to happen eventually.

I had a simular type situation, When i was selling on Ebay

In my case, It was a husband and wife, Who had seperated, The husband made purchases on his wifes credit card via paypal, with out authorization, As the credit card he was using was soley in her name, In the end, unfortuantly SHE did have to pay for the goods.

Non tangible goods, Are unfortuantly a PITA to dispute over, with paypal
