Hey guys i wanted to ask you something about frames in frontpage...

I was using pagebuilder to build 3-4 sites at geocities and now i decided to move to frontpage, but i need some basic questions to be answered please.

in some part of my pages i will have the same things, like the menu or adverts. Therefore i think that i will use iframes in order to establish this.

Is this a good idea or is there a better way to do it?
At pagebuilder i was using just frames for my pages. I dont want to use just a simple template and then from there to do all my pages because i know that there will come a point were most definitely i would want to change something, and it would be impossible to change every single page in my website...

That's it ,
Thank guys,
Haris

If you have a server side language you can use on the server, look into "Include files"

This is when you make 1 file (example: header) and include that file in the same spot on all the pages you want it on. This way you only have to edit one file instead of them all.

Frames will work for what you want, I prefer not to use them as they dont seem profesional to me but they will work. Just add a top frame for the header.

Include files work very much the same but you need to know php/asp/jsp/perl/cgi to get it to work.

ok thank for the tips...

i dont understand much about his include files thing. I 've searched a bit now, and i will try it a bit at frontpage. However at a 1st glance i think frames are easier and more practical to me...

But why they are not professional?

So all the websites that contain news , as http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport/ for example, have this thing? or they use an even more professional tool ?

thanks

Its not they are not professional, its just I cant seem to make them look professional in my designs.

The above site is using include files or something similar, not frames.

Frames are probably best for you since your just starting with frontpage. Include files are more practical when your hand coding asp/php, not designing html in frontpage.

I would suggest leaving frontpage and moving on to the new generation of sites, dreamweaver or notepad :D

WELL the fact is that i have frontpage from when i bought my computer, and currently i cannot afford buying dreamweaver since it is very expensive...

I wanted to go to dreamweaver rather than frontpage , but it is an economic matter... ;)
