Found a baby squirrel

I found a cat attacking a baby squirrel a few hours ago.

I got it before it was hurt much, and now have it inside.

Have it in a aquarium, and have been feeding it a salt/sugar/water mixture as I have read online.

It's quite fiesty when I feed it, otherwise it just does nothing.

I am going to try to call a squirrel rehabilitation person in the morning. There's only one I can find in Savannah...

At least it didn't have to suffer death by cat.

No squirrel rescue people around? Call a vet and ask if they know any independent animal rescue folks - in college we found a hurt squirrel and called this woman who drove 45 minutes at Midnight to take care of the the cute little bugger. ......Hopefully taking care of him was what she was doing...not eating him.

If there isn't one, we'll have to take it to animal control, unfortunately.

We had pet bunnies in the backyard past summer, it's fun catching them when they run around Does no harm to them, but they're so small But thems rabbits feed on our bushes :/ So thats no good.

I am being extremely careful with it, even though it's rare for Squirrels to have Rabies.

Wearing socks over my hands, as we don't have any gloves.

I wouldn't worry to much, we rescued a squirrel last year from the Florida Hurricanes and actually kept it for about 2 weeks until it was ready to be released in the yard again. It was only a week or two old when we found it, fell from the nest onto concreate (2 actually, but only one survived). By the end of the third day, we didn't wear gloves any more. It's teeth are somewhat sharp, but never punchered our skin.

i;d suggest just using the guide to help it out for a few weeks and then putting it back in your yard... or near the closest street.

I simply can't do that, as I'll be in the hospital this week starting wednesday, and there is no-one else in my family whom can or will take care of the little critter.

I will be unable to take care of it tomorrow myself, as I have to take hospital prep to get myself ready for surgery.

Will have to find something to do with it before noonish tomorrow.

We found a chipmunk once and gave it to a nature preserve in town. Aw, this squirrel's really cute Don't make a site like that savetoby.com site... :P

Man, if I found a squirell like that, I would just leave it. In the event I did "help it", it would be dead. Aint no way I am going to spend any money on one stupid little squirell. There are way too many of them. I try to hit as many as I can while driving.
