I've received a lot of feedback on the forums layout on the home page, some good some bad. Feel free to post your suggestions here.

The current plan is to expand the domain name forums so they are not sub-categoriezed on NamePros, and the same with the web development forums on Web Design Talk.

I'll be working on this tonight!

Josh suggestion,

DEVELOPMENT CATEGORY:
-programming (frontend, backend, flash and snipplets)
-graphics and website design (show off and critique)
-website devel (help and strategies)
-biz devel
-marketing techniques

thanks

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.

I liked how you had it a few hours ago with all the subforums listed on the main page and all forums showing availabel on NamePros.

Great plan. You can retain the old organization, but add sub-categories either in domain names or web development, as appropriate.

Just finished for the evening. Have a look at the new homepage forum layouts at www.namepros.com and www.webdesigntalk.net The goal is to keep emphasis at each site on its primary topic while allowing easy access to other forums of common interest.

Thanks for bearing with us during the remodelling this weekend. Always seeking feedback, of course. :)

Hmm. There seem to be some missing categories in NamePros - Domains Wanted, Business Development and Marketing are some that come to mind.

Wait- I see two of them in WDT. I think these categories should appear on both WDT and NP, perhaps within the marketplace forums.

I found the Domain Wanted forum.

Marketing Techniques and Business Development are having a tough time finding a home. For now they're in with the development topics. Since they are forums intended for discussion rather than advertising I would like to keep them out of the marketplace section. They could be in their own business topic, but activity in those two boards make it hard to justify a new section addtion which might be too much for the home page.

I'll have another look at it with a clearer mind tomorrow. :)

Marketing Techniques and Business Development belong in Development imo. You should put the announcements forum and the Community forums on WDT too.

Is it possible to make it so on namepros, the Domain forums are on the front page, and the design forum expands. And on WDT the design forums are on the front, and the domain forums expand?

Edit: After typing this, I looked and saw that it was done like this.

on NP, instead of having like all the sub forums and crap under evlopment, just have the category link to the WDT category, so its not all ugly under NP

Me too! :bingo:

We'll be addressing the delivery of several new or enhanced features as we work our way in to the New Year, as well. The goal, obviously, is to make the transition of anything we do as seemless and integrated as possible to help improve the membership's productivity and enjoyment here on the Namepros site.
Busy Bee's here in 2004! :talk:
Thanks.
