Hi guys,

I flicker in and out of domaining and have just seen the extension .Forum

Namecheap.com is where you are able to register one, is it worth it and will these be a good investment?

Not available at godaddy yet but I think it's on the way?

Any advice/debate welcome.

Thanks

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
GoDaddyGoDaddy
They are cheaper at Porkbun.

No reported sales on Namebio. I guess there's little need to emphasize in the tld that a forum is a forum. One can use a subdomain for that (for example).

I don't think the .forum TLD fits the generally high-quality domains that I have seen from you. You can take that as a compliment.

Almost 4 years old... less than 5k names registered. No sales shown on NameBio.

Many live sites - most being used as TLD intended

Tech.forum
Broadband.forum
FutureEconomy.forum
EuropeFuture.forum
Javascript.forum
Blockchain.forum
Yellow.forum
BioEnergetic.forum
TopGold.forum

With the way forums are using (and can hand reg) keyword+keyword for their forum...
No thanks, I'll pass.

Also the registry is selling most popular one word dictionary terms at very high reg premium prices (which may be partly why adoption is so low)

I would put this in the same league as .myspace in terms of impact on mass appeal. Forum's have to be one of the toughest niches to succeed at nowadays, the old-school ones they are already rooted.

The only positive is the $2.55 first year price at PorkBun (although renewals will run ~$31 p/yr). So perhaps if you can find 1-2 names that are a good fit with forums and take a flier, i suppose for a $5 investment... take a flier. But I wouldn't back up the truck

Also - after 4 years, GoDaddy (and Afternic) do not allow .forum listings. Not a good sign of widespread use when you can't list for sale on Afternic.

So it's direct, Atom Standard & Plus, and Sedo to market this TLD.

With all I said, I dropped $2.55 on one name just to test the waters (see what sort of interest the name gets, if any). It was taken in almost 300 TLDs and SLD makes sense with the TLD.

Hello! .Forum domains are interesting for niche communities, but their value depends on demand. Research and focus on unique, relevant names for better ROI.

If I was to venture into this extension I would definitely research public sales for Keyword + Forum and also which forum communities are the most popular. I would guess keywords like car.forum, anime.forum, crypto.forum, etc. will have some value.

My (2-letter keyword).forum is ranking #1 in Bing and Yahoo search.
