I know that the zone is not so good, but better than "countries" zones.
And the most important - FOREX.
I think it is very very interesting.
Please appraise: FOREX.NAME

So - I've got the first proposition for FOREX.NAME on SEDO (after 2 days from registration) : $1,500. Any opinions? Shall I raise it or go to auction? Thanks!

I would've sold it immediately for that offer.

Show all the nay-sayers the hidden value of your .name and develop it.

:tu: :tu: :tu:

It's probably the only way to get value for this excellent keyword, inspite of the TLD.

$1500 is a great offer. I would have sold it too. But good luck.

.name is terrible as you've already heard plenty of times. Its a great keyword, but I'd say reg fee to $30 for a reseller. End user, maybe mid-high $xx or even low $xxx.

I'd have sold it without auction. But I have a feeling the sale wouldn't have gone through for some reason anyway.

Oh, well. Good luck.

I can't agree with appraisals for the end-users. For example I want to start Forex brokerage business. Which domain shall I buy? Something like blablaforextradingblabla.com for $xxx-$x,xxx or the genuine one-word: FOREX. Ok .name is not good but there can be thousands of slogans which will make people to remember this domain... For example: Name your Money! Forex.Name .....

I heard from several people here to sell this name immediately without auction. But why? What is the risk? If there will be no bids - this first offer will be the winning bid and I will sell this good domain. Please explain?
Thanks!

I have never seen a .name advertised, I don't know of anyone ( other than a domainer) that would even know what a .name is and I would bet that there isn't one company in the world that would choose forex.name for their main web presence, over some longer 3 worded .com or a cctld.

blablaforextradingblabla.com is better than forex.name....imo .name does not have any business credibility. That is what is important and that is why we see real examples of really long names .com and .ca for a companies web presence....real credibility.

Look at Ford's newest ad campaign in Canada... sociallifeaccelerator.ca. (.com) Now that's a long name and it is exactly what you are talking about...blahblahblah.ca / .com, but like I said, .ca and .com carries a lot of credibility and trust....

I would bet that Ford could have regged a way better name for their marketing purposes in a .name...but they chose to go .ca....recognized, trusted and well used.

sociallifeaccelerator.ca

I think that's why .name is weak.

Evidence of long winded ( really poor) .ca and .com's representing real business online are all around me everyday.

I can't agree with such example. What is easier to remember sociallifeaccelerator.ca or ford.name? There is a sort of keywords which is valued in ALL extensions... Of course Ford has billions of $$$ to promote ANY domain they want. But what about less promotion budget? I think in that case keyword plays the greater role than the extension...
But OK - about 3 hours left until SEDO auction will finish. Will see the results and I will tell you about this sale...
