Please appraise the domain: Football-Forums.com

Also, give me your opinion on whether you think I should sell it now or should I get the Forum back up & running and sell later.

Here is some history on the domain:
We've had this domain since 2004. We get at least 1 new inquiry a month from someone wanting to buy this domain. When Fall gets here and Football starts, I'll get about 5-10 inquiries a month about selling it. I get more inquiries about this domain than most others we have. I just don't know what to ask for it. Most offers are usually low-ball offers, but so far this year we have gotten offers for $750, $800, & $1,000 through Sedo and GoDaddy. In the Fall of 2005, we got an offer for $1,500, but at the time the forum was doing well and we passed. Will I regret not taking it? We also once received an offer of $2,500 via e-mail, but we responded to the e-mail and the potential buyer never returned the e-mail and never e-mailed us again. I don't count it as a "real" offer, because we never had any meaningful conversation with the potential buyer, except for the one e-mail containing the offer. Do you think we should just hold onto it for a few years and get the forum back up and running? The owner of FootballForum(.)net is currently asking $6,000 for that domain. We've had a Forum up an running in the past that discussed both NFL and College Football. We had almost 1,000 members and over 10,000 posts in only 1 year. Good...Bad...just OK? (I honestly don't know if those are good numbers or not for a new forum.) I'm new to the "pricing" and "selling" of domains and could use some help. Thanks in advance for your help.

Selling to an end user and selling to a reseller are two totally different things. A reseller likes to buy low (like stocks, buy like and sell high) and from what I have learned are often times not interested in a domain such as yours due to the length and the - between the words however your domain could still have value based on the end user who may be interested in purchasing it.

These type of sales are far more rare but typically have much higher value. The value goes up as you develop the site and improve the content and traffic to your site. 1,000 users may actually be your best bet because based on the name alone, what you have is really nothing.

A full fledged website with a living community (= profiled and returning visitors, e-mail lists...) is always worth more than the domain name alone. I would definitely resurrect the forum as soon as possible.

As the other people before me said, your best bet would be to put the forum back online and develop & improve the web site.

Thanks to everyone who has replied. I know the price can vary drastically, depending on the buyer. As stated above, I've currently got offers ranging from $750 to $1,000 for the domain as it sits now. Do you think I should be seriously thinking about these offers? If we re-open the forum and in a year it reaches it's previous growth, would the potential selling price be considerably more or do you think it is almost at it maximum selling price now? Thanks for everyone's insight.

Honestly, I'm very shocked someone is offering you as high as $1,000 for the domain. That's an amazing offer for what it is.
