Folks, Time to Reg more .TVs,Huge Discount!!

Hi everyone,

I just registered MA(dot)tv for a 70% discount.

.TV representative told me that they are offering 70% discount blanket on all names. ll or lll or any for that matter. First year reg fee is for sure at 70% discount, second year on, 50% discount is guarenteed, where as you can get 70% discount if they offer it.

Go on now, and register all that you were thinking on...

If those names have Ovt with ext as you said in another thread, for sure they will earn money sooner or later.

Both were 1K premiums prior to discount. MR.tv, I am thinking a men's portal. LV, maybe Las Vegas.

I wonder if this means Business.tv / News.tv will be 'only' $300K each p.a now?!

What do we think the per annum price point is for those to be a viable commercial proposition?

Roughly speaking, you should think of the annual lease cost as being equivalent to about 1/6 the purchase price of the domain (if there was no reg fee). this is not scientific, but as good an estimate as any of the net present value.

So, if news.tv was $10/year to reg, how much would it sell for. I think it is still probably on the lower half of XXX,XXX, so I struggle with a reg fee above mid XX,XXX for it. Business.tv might even be lower.

I like your valuation guide and it will certainly help me price one of my premiums I have had an enquiry on.

In the case of business.tv and news.tv, I was thinking not of domain resale value but something different. In theory it would be possible to build a whole business around these names and what you are leasing is essentially an instant brand.

At a million per annum its definitely not viable - I just wonder where the price point is that it becomes so.

btw big kudos to gamehouse for the intel - this is what Dottv subforum and Namepros is all about for me. Rep added and some namebucks sent.

I am now the proud new owner of Biology.tv

Does this 70% off include $500.00 premiums? Do I have to pay for 2 years upfront or just commit to 2 years?

My understanding is commit only.....

But you may need to pay a little more for your second year (50% of $500 or threabouts...possibly still deeper discount available for second year no guarentees though....) From then on -it should be no more than $250 renewal fee on a year to year basis...

Wow, I can't believe it, I feel like I just won the .tv lottery. Just reged 5 premos and going back for some more!

My only problem is if it is too good to be true, then is it?

Also, I have my eye on a $1000 premium, but it is a ploral version and the singular is taken and already developed. Would I have a trademark problem?

For example lets say the name I want is marketers.tv and marketer.tv is already taken and developed. Would I have a problem developing marketers.tv? What do you all think?

Thanks!

I just purchased another 5. I asked the rep why they are doing this and she said because they want to see if this would increase the registration of premium names. Between you and I, I laughed because when ever you discount something that is a premium by 70% of course it will increase sales. And what will happen after the 48 hours of this sale is over, is that you will see that it worked incredibly, but now more of the best names have been cherry picked. So now you are left with not as "hot" names for a higher price.

In anycase I believe this will be good for .tv name holders and the .tv industry as it will likely put more .tv names out on the net.

Cheers

well yes ... and no - if its only for 48 hrs and they didn't advertise it, no end users will be getting involved, so it will be up to the domainer/developers to get them really out there on the net

It also must rankle a little bit with those who have already invested in premiums

I was going to say something like that, but I don't want to sound ungreatful for the window of opportunity that we have now.
