Personally I think it depends on your domain name, what type of listing you choose and your strategy.

Do you have any idea about it? I mean the type of listing ( premium, normal etc ) and your strategy ( price, with or without reserve... )

Just a normal $9 listing , i am not that confident so a small chance is all i am willing to take, i tend to think about ten days, i think if it's too long people are no longer 'hot for it'

You are partially right but consider that normally you will have bidders / followers at the very beginning of the auction then it slows down and it ends up with the last hour madness ( if you keep in consideration the different timezones ).

You also need to consider the frequency with bidders / members visit Flippa : if you allow a too short auction you won't get all the possible visits.

This is obviously my opinion and most will depend on the quality of the name ( as always )

I'd say not more than 15 days.

Many bidders are conditioned to wait till the last minute and many, like myself think it's just prudent. To me, 7 days is ideal for an auction. I'll go longer only to give more time to get the word out to prospective buyers, especially with niche categories. You "definitely" need to do that, even if you spend hundreds trying to keep your name on the home page. You must advertise your auction at other venues.

If you don't already know, the featured option is a one time deal. The name will be on the home page until other featured names are added after yours. As other names come on line your domain drops down the list, then that's it The first time I used it my name was only on the home page for a few hours. If you want back on the list it's another $50. I haven't used it much. I'm not sure if it's different with the premium option. To be fair, I haven't tried the premium option yet, but I have used the $85 option. Some not so hot names stay on the home page for a week or more though. By my calculations that's at least $300 or $400 extra. Suppose you just have to go for it sometimes.

I have had luck with a short 3 days auction when the price range is below 1000.

If it is above 1000 then it should be 7 days or so.

Too many days and it just goes on back burner.

Thanks.

It's really interesting to see how different the experiences are.

@ Keral would you ( and the others ) share the domain name? Or at least the category ( LLL, NNL, LLLLs, brandable etc )

Thank you!

It was a keyword domain.

3 keyword domain and I was just trying things out on flippa :) Testing waters etc :D

That was my experience though. Things tend to cool down if I put on a long auction.

This could be different in a category killer domain name that is why I said that if you are selling some premium domain name then you need to go for longest auction so that you can promote it properly.

Otherwise it is just hit and run thingy :) 3 days or 5 days or 7 days :) Before things cool down or people change their minds :)

What do you think should be the very best strategy to get a good sale on Flippa for a more or less premium one word domain like Dinners dot net? Time of auction and or some features?!

try that the end of auction should be 1-3pm est

list a min of 12 days

make your case, biggest mistake is people with decent names saying little about the industry / market the name represent etc

Quality sites (domains and or domain+biz) goes for more money than most sites out there, but garbage goes for way less lol so def its not a place for garbage.

if it's for a brandable i would only spend the $9 For something like dinners it's hard to say, i would not have a huge reserve on it i think
