fixed price if you are not the one doing selling, making offer if you are the one doing selling

Doing selling works means you are the one going out, cold calling, advertise your domain for sale and etc...

Fixed price is good if you are only listing your domain at sedo, afternic and others and doing nothing while waiting for offers to come in.

I prefer to list all my domains under the "make an offer" category, this way, I know I have a chance to negotiate with a buyer whilst also making sure my reserve is met. Sometimes a fixed offer will drive buyers away before they even make an offer, and let's face it, in today's world, people are going to try and negotiate the best price for their purchases.

When I see "make offer" I simply walk away and I will tell you for why...

How do I know that my offer will ever be considered and not immediately thrown in the rubbish bin?

When I do make an offer on a domain I at least expect a reply back, if not accepting then at least acknowledging me.

People who simply put "make offer" on a domain without giving a ballpark simply seem to me to be lacking a clue about how they should value their site or domain, it is almost as bad as putting the price ridiculously high.

What is wrong with "$1000 O.N.O"?

That at least tells people the rough ballpark someone is going to accept, and even if they have placed it 20-30% above what they expect to receive it lets people have a starting point.

You do have to be careful if you use this strategy.

You should not have a Fixed Price for a particular domain at more than
one sales venue.

Fixed Price is equal to Buy It Now if the Buyer accepts the price.

It might seem like a long shot but twice I have had offers come in for the same domain at about the same time.

Sometimes an event happens or something in the news makes your domain suddenly desirable so be prepared for that situation.
