I recently registered the typo name " o r k 7 t . c o m " on august 21st @ Moniker. Whois @ Moniker shows me owning the domain, it is in my panel I had it parked at sedo receiving traffic. Than I noticed today that when i checked the registry @ Whois.sc it shows it being registered today and now is being registered @ name.com ...

Kind of odd... never have had this happened, I contacted moniker no response yet. Anyone have any ideas what could've happened?

And I have actually checked a few other whois's and they all show me as the owner except for whois.sc .. but the domain is not pointing to sedo ns anymore... arg.

Does anyone have access to your account and have they accidentally deleted the domain?

Bizarre!

The most likely explaination is that the domain registration failed, but Moniker's system didn't catch that and thus it appeared to be registered when it really wasn't.

However, that explaination has a few problems ...

1. most registrars' systems are pretty good at catching missed regs and will re-attempt automatically and/or auto-refund

2. why would the domain later been registered ... if it had been the same day, one could simply figure that perhaps it was a near-tie and Moniker's systems got confused, but it appears the reg dates are roughly 2 days apart!

#2 is very telling ... it could have simply been conincidence, or maybe Moniker shares its whois / reg data ... or very likely, the domain really did register on the 21st, but then for some inexplicable reason was released and subsequently registered by someone else - many people, often using scripts, scan the newly registered domain lists daily.

I don't have a simple answer - however, one thing I can say for sure is that you're not seeing things ... something really is wrong - hope Moniker and/or someone in the know can shed some light on your situation.

Addendum ... at Moniker, do you "taste" domains? -if so, perhaps you accidently deleted the wrong one(s)?

I checked a few and this is what I get on all of them
Domain servers in listed order:

NS1.SEDOPARKING.COM
NS2.SEDOPARKING.COM

Record created on: 2007-08-21 21:30:54.0
Database last updated on: 2007-08-21 21:31:32.557
Domain Expires on: 2008-08-21 21:31:04.0

But the landing page tells you at the bottom to click for info on
this domain and goes to DomainSponsor.com

On whois.sc is does say the Servers are from Sedo in germany

Yeah, so no I didn't drop this domain, and it was for the first 2 days redirecting to my sedo parking.. but then today i noticed it @ domainsponsor.. I guess whenever moniker decides to reply they can give me the news...

So you do taste then... that changes things considerably... playing the tasting game is risky in more ways than one.

Perhaps you accidently marked it too as delete, maybe it's a glitch in Moniker's system, or even a glich in your web browser - ajax and other stuff is great, but if a page doesn't load completely, browser is running low on memory, etc weird things can happen.

Regardless, the easiest thing to do may be to simply wait a few days - perhaps the new registrant is only tasting and will release it shortly.
