.US domains.US domains
com/net/org in that order.

I'd take the .org before net.

.net, it makes more sense IMO

Depends on the use. Between net & org, if I were selling something under my name, .net. For a personal site, .org.

I would take a .net over a .org everytime Except if it was in medical/charity type name
Is this for your personal use, or as an investment?

I think you misunderstood the topic....... it's for FIRST NAME (ie; Bill, Mike, Sally) domains; so can't be a medical domain ;)

For a first name I would go with net first, even if it were an organization. If I couldn't get that, .org would be my next choice. Though of course, I would want both if I could. Sadly I don't think I am going to find any jay.TLD available.

This post is only going to stir up controversy...lol.

There has been numerous threads on this forum asking which people put behind COM.. NET or ORG. Be expected to see a variety of responses here and a variety of different opinions.

I myself would put it COM-NET-ORG but I'm sure some people here will disagree.

I think .tel is still interesting when it comes to names. There are some specific rules, but
I still find this interesting. (and google also). (godaddy doesn't sell these BTW).
And otherwise => com .name net co mobi (org =>always find this strange for non-organisations)

Ya I have not heard of what really makes one better then the other. Seems to be all matter of personal opinion. I like .net a little bit more.

It seems most of the people replying to this thread seem to like .net first and .org second. I would also have to agree with that myself. I myself have PlanetMike.net and feel id much rather have that extension over the .org unless I was looking to start some kind of charitable organization of some sort.

Originally intended for non-profit or charitable organizations, today .org is also widely used among businesses and individuals. .org is where people turn to find credible information, fund causes and support advocacy. If you are a non-profit organization, non-governmental organization or grassroots operation .org is the best way to distinguish yourself on the internet. Having a .org will help indentify your site as being dedicated to a cause. Commercial and corporate businesses use .org to show consumers they have goals beyond their commercial ventures by registering a .org and using it to display their charitable contributions, social values and the public service activities.:gl:

.net before .org for commercial use, vice versa for charity/organisations IMHO:)

For my first name, I'll go for .org as I feel more inclined to charity work but for other's first name, I'll have the .net purely because of commercial value. It's a case to case basis. :)
