First Draft Of Header

Here is a first draft of the header for our racing site...what do you think, any ideas for improvements?

It's a bit difficult to say without seeing the whole page.

My first impression says it is very nice.
I just find the right side to dark, to much black surface.

Hmmm ya, I do not know I kinda think that it is bland and not all that exciting...maybe it needs some texture or something.
