Hi Guys and Gals,

Recently stuck a chunk of my portfolio up on Afternic. Set most of them up to receive offers with no BIN or Floor price at present.

Last night I received an email stating there had been interest in one of the domains and I had 48 hours to put a BIN and Floor price on it.

Also gave me a phone number and email address for one of their Sales Managers if I wanted to discuss pricing strategy.

It all seems completely legit but with all the scams going on, I just wanted to check with the forum if this is the type of email you get from Afternic or if there is something else going on?

Thanks,

Jon

You are not required to use a buy it now ever so that part is fishy. You are not required to do anything unless you opted for fast transfer.

I find Afternic a real nuisance lately. From Others trying to add my names to fast transfer to their non secure website so my browser tells me. If there is a secure website they need to remove the insecure link that comes up number one in search engine.

If the email is from "anything"@afternic.com, it has to be legit.

If it is an email from Afternic then nothing is fishy imo.
Problem is, you probably can't say if it's really from Afternic since they do not care about their secure protocols at all. Every other message goes to spam, or cannot be authenticated.

Yeah - just got one of those yesterday and its legit.

And if you are really concerned, just log into your account and add the BIN and floor there directly.

Probably legit - but don't put your hopes to high because often nothing comes out of it!
Just add a price you're comfortable with and wait! :xf.smile:

You can call them directly to ask about the offer as well.

Unfortunately, scammers are recently using something called 'email spoofing' - the email can literally come from a companies domain, even though it has been sent by the scammer/spoofer.

Slightly off topic from the thread, but just something to be wary of. As someone previously mentioned, I'd suggest logging into your account directly to complete any actions.

I got one yesterday and it was price request.

These emails are typically notifications of a price request. To be doubly sure, you can check your Afternic dashboard to see whether the price request is present there as well.

Got off the phone with Afternic earlier and it was legit. As many suggested it was a price request via Godaddy so I've set the pricing on the site and will wait to see. It is one of my 2 favourite domains that I expect will be worth quite a bit in the future so doubt the person will pay what I am asking right now.

Thanks everyone for your comments. I always try to be ultra security conscious so it may not be the last time I am on here asking about stuff like this :)
