It looks that way to me .... I don't own any - But it seems harsh to pick out "All" of them -
Seems people will be able to turn the option on , But the Default will be off - Can't be good for Traffic / Domain Prices ~

IDN domains are worthless if you ask me. I try to stay away from them.

Spoofing is a major problem, and those names lend themselves to that problem. From a safety and security standpoint, this is actually a good thing for the average surfer/consumer. I agree though, a bad thing for holders of those names.

well, how much market share does FF really have? 12 mil people have the browser and in the world of the net that is not alot. However that number will increase.

firefox is amazingly popular - in fact its only my dad and his "posse" of friends (out of the ppl I know) who hate (well, dislike) firefox.

He keeps telling me that it is being hacked! All the time! :(

I was horrified when I first read that on MozillaZine or was it their forums. I have a bunch of them and this does really hurt my business plans for those. MSIE users need the plug-in still, so Gecko and Opera users would have been the potential target, but apparently now they rule out all Charlie Browns using Mozilla and Mozilla Firefox. Great. Just what I did not need. I really hope they revert their decision or at least make it very temporary.

As for IDNs, they don't have a too great value yet, but for sure will when people learn about them and all browsers support them (read: IE supports them).

Says someone who most likely only speaks English.

Wait a minute! It's old news apparently. Should have looked at MZ first.

In Mozilla Firefox 1.0.1, Mozilla 1.7.6 and Mozilla 1.8 Beta 1, IDN will now be enabled but all international domain names will be displayed as Punycode.

In other words: false alarm. :) Hurray!

I like this kind of thinking. It lets me and other IDNers pick up unregistered generic IDNs with a lot of traffic and revenue, hurray!

It would be interesting to know, acctually, how many foreign domain names there are that are used on a regular basis (by foreign I mean like www.sœur.fr and other IDNs). Are there many?

I think this is a good thing unless you own a few. There are heaps of people who get tricked by idn's.
