Firefox takes http:// away?

- I was thinking there was something broken or I was losing my mind LOL

I noticed the http:// in my address bar was missing,
and only the actual domain name was black, the rest of the
address was grey.

I googled it :tu: - turns out Firefox made some changes that
requires me to make a change in order to have the
http:// protocol back and to take the grey away and make
it all black, like normal :gl:

So if you have been thinking the same thing but were afraid to ask - that's all it is :D

I think it is more trying to be like chrome is not showing the http

I just noticed that myself. Would that cause any security issues or is just a case of them messing up your mind?

sphere1 regarding the change of colour they are trying to improve security. They are trying to make it easier to identify the site you are actually visiting.

Regarding the http being removed. Not sure why they have done this. Maybe they deem it less relevant. Most traffic you get through a browser is http or https anyway.

Peter is exactly right. And when visiting https the "https://" still shows. Domain in black and rest in grey is to make it easier to see phishing site URL's.

My firefox is still an older version so I have no such encounter in my browser. Although I'm seem accustomed to that already with Chrome having such feature in the address bar.

It took it away from the naked eye but if you copy it, you'll find that it's there when you paste it.

I hoped that we have finally reached real milestone of Internet development. Useless artifact http with double slash etc should have been long gone (from end users view).

I think it's a cosmetic change.. if you copy/paste an url from the address bar, you'll see the http:// is still there..
