Hey everyone I just had a few questions,
First- How profitable can a mispelled domain that sees daily traffic be?
It really depends on a number of factors. Just the traffic alone can have some value, but it depends on what the traffic is looking for and what you can do with it.
One like "HomeMrotgage.com" (o and r reversed. Letters on opposite sides of the keyboard are often reversed as people type) could be quite valuable because the ads on a parked domain or site could pay quite a bit per click. Even if the traffic is low, the bids are high so this could be good. For others, low bids with high volume could make them worthwhile.
2nd- What's the most valuable information esti-bot provides?
In my opinion, the overall value of a domain is a good rough indicator of general value. But it's a rough estimate and generally much higher than the domain will sell for, UNLESS you can sell to an end user and then the value could be lower than the sales price, but that's rare. It's also valuable for justifying the price you tell to an end user, but don't try it with someone that has more than 5-10 domains or you may be letting them know you are clueless.
3rd- Starting off, is registering domains, flipping maybe developing a risk? How can you minimize the risk? Also, what is the best way to evaluate a domain before purchasing, without someone "stealing" it?
Have you read all the "sticky" newbie posts here? If not, take the time to read them, then read for a couple week more, then think about buying some domains and you should know enough that you don't waste too much money (like most of us have...).
I suggest you make some friends here and ask their opinion about domains you are thinking about. Most of the members with good itrader numbers and rep are not going to register a domain that you ask them about. I know I would never do that. Well, I might, but I would ask you first.
There is going to be some "risk" with most domains you buy for reg fee, but that doesn't mean you can find some that have much less risk. Heck, it's an $8 investment. If you can sell it for $16, that 100% profit. Most business owners would KILL for that kind of profit margin.
Look, if you are just going to buy and flip domains, you may need a few months to learn what kinds of domains are going to sell, and find ways to locate them. Then you also need to work on the marketing and sales. Selling here at NamePros is easy, selling here for much of a profit is not easy, at least it has not been easy for me. Selling to end users is better, but it takes work to find them and then you have to work at selling it to them.
But if you are thinking about buying s nice domain and have a plan for some kind of nice site to put on it, that may be the best way to go. A nice site and domain package is generally worth more than each sold on it's own.
Good Luck!
