One of my Fasthosts domains stopped resolving, and when I inquired I was told the contact email for the domain didn't have an MX record, and therefore they would not send the verification email until it does. (They didn't seem to have any problem sending the support emails to that address.)

This was completely new to me, I've been using the same email with 18 different registrars. Is this an ICANN or GDPR thing?

Technically it had one MX entry, my web host for the domain (i.e. mx.domain. hostname. com). I was forwarding anyway so I now host it somewhere that provides multiple priority MX entries.

I have received a formal apology (a support person claimed I had no MX when I did), and "referred your formal complaint with our supervisor," saying I will receive an email update.
