fanbase.com 151,000 USD 2020-08-16 GoDaddy

How incredible is the recent sale of Fanbase.com on Godaddy.

Though the statistics are right for the name but the buyer must have placed a huge value on this name for parting away with $XXX, xxx.xx of their money.

I understand the keyword is now trending but still getting my head around the use case that has made it worth this much.

I'll let the experts speak.

Many Thanks.

Backlinks are excuses to waste money IMO...

I see people fall this most DropCatch Auctions
They have not paid 151k just for the back links :xf.smile: a good profile helps if your going to develop a site and at this price you would think would think it is going to developed (never say never though!)

Interesting to see what happens with it- has to be sports related surely? Which sport? One or 2 or full coverage?

Do you see sports going on?
MLB may be cancelled in USโ€” on life support
NBA playoffs started; bubble is โ€œsuccessโ€
NFL is a wild cardโ€”Season begins September
Many curious if NFL possibly can start normal.

Do you see sports demand in Pandemic?
i love sports, but this niche has been disturbed

European football season is just about to start again in a few weeks......still have the Champions League Semis & Final to go

If fans (for any sport) can't go to the games then TV, Online Coverage is going to be in big demand........it was when the Premier League got going for the last few games......

Play without a single fan in the stands. :-P

Strange times, indeed; artificial fans; NBA MLB

Perhaps this is why the price was so high.
If fans cannot attend games, they are sitting at home pining for interaction on just such a platform.
There's a mountain of money to be made by developers and investors in this climate.

I did some work on a football platform over 10 years ago.
It was a huge win for the news masthead and kept the fans entertained both on and off season.

Yeah, I shortlisted the ED and participated in bidding and it went extended many times and it just gone crazy. I created Toybase.com many years earlier but never received offer more than $2,000,
